They were all attacked, she, her husband and the two little dogs. Horrifying.

An attack like that is pure terror for all 4 of them. If I had my way the owners of the fighting dogs would be charges with attempted murder.

May they all heal fully and somehow forget this.

And that's one reason why I don't take Chabby for walks. I did when she was a puppy and there was a dog on a leash that would strain and snarl...and I thought what if he ever got loose. Then my neighbor told about walking his dog and having another dog attack and he picked up his dog and kicked the attacking dog which ran for cover, and another time I had a woman frined over for dinner and a 3rd woman came banging on the door and told about a dog running out and biting her on the rear....didn't but barely break the skin and the owner called the dog off.
All very small stuff compared to this attack....but I won't walk my dog nor walk at night.
You know if someone keeps a pet mountain lion or another dangerous animal and that animal attacks, the owner is charged.
Fighting dogs should be considered dangerous animals.
However I remember a woman who raised great Danes was killed when she went into the kennel to feed them. They weren't fighting dogs.
I can't imagine the horror....gives me nightmares to think of it!

I agree about all aggressive dogs -- and who knows when a dog may become aggressive? In my township there is a controversy about dogs being allowed to run free in certain parks. We have a beautiful woodsy park nearby. It is filled with open space, woodland trails, streams and gardens. It was meant for the enjoyment of humans.

Dog owners have taken over the place. They even scratched out a sign that said No Dogs Allowed. Finally people are pushing back by calling the police when dogs are spotted. Now the township is trying to establish a dog park. The only problem is that no one wants it near their home and this area is pretty thickly settled.

I happen to love dogs and have had a couple over the years. I don't have one now because I am not home to care for it. I do enjoy fussing over my neighbors dogs. Most of my neighbors are responsible people. Sadly a few dogs have escaped their yards and met their maker on the busy road at the end of our street.

I feel so bad for Linda, her husband and their pups. Tragic.

I agree with Peppi, people who knowingly own/breed fighting dogs should be charged accordingly.

In Ontario a dog owner is liable for the actions of their dog. I think the max fine is $5K for bites but criminal charges can be laid against the owner in cases of extreme injury. In most cases of attack the animal is ordered put down

Ontario has even gone so far as to totally ban ownership of Pit Bulls, which are an unusually aggressive breed.

It is one thing to have a "good" dog bite unexpectedly. It is another thing to deliberately own an aggressive animal....regardless of breed. The mentality of people who own aggressive, mean animals is beyond me.

It seems half the ads for Dogs for Sale in the paper are for aggressive breeds -- pit bulls, presa canario, rotties (Although I kind of like them).

I grew up with Dobermans. They were wonderful companions and very patient with the grandchildren. However, they were extremely protective of us and the house. They quickly learned to recognize our friends and always greeted them with a stumpy-tail wag. They were guard dogs, not attack dogs.

Just read the thread over on the petforum, what a horrific story. Glad you have abit of good news happening now Linda. Lots of prayers for those little babies, and for you and DH.
