what have i done??? monitor screen is upside down

Everything was normal than less then an hour later when I turned the 'puter back on I find the screen and everything on it is 'topsy, turvey'! Can someone he;lp me? I'm using a Toshiba Satellite A135 with Vista as OS.

Try pressing Ctrl+Alt+Up.

Thanks so much, it worked! I can't figure out what I did to cause the problem. Only thing I remember was that I turned the 'puter upside-down to shake some crumbs from off the keyboard.

Whatever I did, it was maddening trying to navigate the screen when everything was upside down and mirror imaged. Thx again.

plants for sure will grow towards the light which is up..well is gonna miss up the main design of the plants?maybe..but is that a bad thing or rather quite interesting? if i were you,i try to make one.maybe small one out any container i have on hand drill a hole in the bottom and put the plant upside down.you said you have pathos?get a cutting a stick it in your make shift container.there is lots of DIY vids on youtube explaining how to do so..look up topsy turvy.you have sparked an idea for me..oh well more project for me.

Well, I guess this proves the iPhone advertisement that many, many photos today are taken with phones rather than cameras! In any case --- sideways for me too, but if I click on the photo, a new screen comes up showing it in correct position. Molie

Here are some settings to check to be sure the comp is set up for your monitor: Rt click desktop, then properties, then settings tab (be sure the screen resolution is set to your monitor's native resolution, found in the literature which came with it), color should be set to highest 32 bit, then click the advanced button at the bottom, click on the monitor tab (be sure you monitor is listed correctly), then click the properties button and make sure your video card is listed properly. If all is well, then you know it's not the hardware settings. If something is wrong and you can't fix it, let us know and we can help some more.

camp56, As it stands now, we only have one user account, but we have two FF profiles, each with its own quicklaunch icon. I tried loading the Window Resize add-on to the other user's profile (since she uses FF all the time, while I use Opera most of the time). I thought I could set it up so that when she would open her FF it would automatically show an 800 x 600 resolution. But it didn't. The add-on doesn't really do what I'm looking for, I'm afraid. It resizes the window but doesn't change the resolution. It may be that I will need to set up the two-user situation you mentioned, though, just fyi, the other user is a senior citizen who isn't that proficient with computers and needs the fonts AND pics a bit larger. And she plays Pogo games, which are better and easier to see in the 800 x 600 resolution. Plus, I'd rather not do something (setting up a second user account) requiring her to do a lot of navigating and switching around just for her brief internet sessions. But I'll see if it works out. If not, I can live with the larger sizes of the 800 x 600 if necessary. Thanks !

Was the computer on when you turned the keyboard upside down? You probably accidentally hit CTL-ALT-DOWN. This doesn't work on all computers, but it's fun to know early in April. CTL-ALT-RightArrow or CTL-ALT-LeftArrow can be even more disconcerting.

On my toshiba you can disable screeb rotation with a simple checkbox in ... 'intel graphics' ... in control panel.

Hey, this info is great! I need to be doing much more reading on this board!

Now I seem to have another problem; while looking at vacation pics and trying to adjust the screen for slide show I must have done something wrong again :(

Now I'm looking at a screen with a large dark border around it...probably a 10" screen on a 14" monitor... How do I correct this goof?

Since I don't know the answer right off the top of my head, I'm going to suggest you reboot computer (shut it down and turn it back on) and see if that doesn't correct things.

Rebooting seems to often solve a lot of odd miscellaneous problems.

Corrected it by a right click on the screen and clicking on full panel :)
