We have travertine on the floor in two bathrooms, had travertine in the entryway from the garage, and only took that up when we tile the entire downstairs with a different travertine (re-tiled it for continuities sake, not because of wear). Yes, it can scratch or chip (our entryway tile had some minor scratches, but we've tracked stuff in from the garage, have slid boxes across the floor, had workers coming in and out through the garage while reno'ing various parts of the house, etc.). But, scratches and chips on travertine can often be repaired, whereas ceramic/porcelain tile cannot be. I have buffed out etch marks (using a green scrubby) on the honed travertine in the guest bathroom (former cleaning lady set the bottle of TB cleaner on the floor and it left a nice oval shaped etch right in front of the shower). I've used a tan/brown permanent marker to "color-in" scratches in our travertine as well (color, wipe off any excess with some paper towel or buff with some fine steel wool), and they disappear. Like allison0704 said, use a good sealer, and choose a decent quality stone, and you should be fine.

The polished nickel will have a warm gold tone depending on the manufacturer. Some deeper than others. I think I would use a color that leans toward that warm color. I personally like a dark floor, but that is personal. Some travertine will have pink undertones. If it was me I'd probably go with porcelain because I could count on the color to be the color of my sample. Some travertine samples that people have used to decide for their stone, came delivered (and sometimes installed) way different then they thought, causing a lot of disappointment and tear outs. The "regular" bath layout that jensbride posted first is very similar to what our DD & DS shared for years and worked very well. The door, however, was a pocket style and placed directly across from the toilet. This allowed the vanity to be scooted around the corner to take up the whole wall. It leaves the toilet close to the tub, but with lots of elbow room. Our kids just learned to keep the door partially closed when the bath wasn't in use due to the "view".

I can't help but picture orange with this blue. Or a saturated blue and white. A textured all white curtain would look great as well. (Doesn't look lime on my screen) - Red Barrel Studio - Wayfair Moroccan Orange - Wayfair I think you can have a lot of fun with your shower curtain. So many colours look good with this blue. The trick might be to match the colour intensity.
