The Waterfall Soap Saver looks AWESOME!!! Put one right into my Amazon cart. In our shower, we have a corner ceramic soap shelf, rounded at the edge. For some reason the water doesn't drain out of it very well (possibly installation-error as this was DIY). I like that it makes things convenient, but I try not to put soap on it b/c it will melt away in the standing water. In a way it is redundant b/c we also have a pre-formed Swanstone niche in the shower as well. I like the pre-formed niche a lot, it is VERY easy to clean and was easy to DIY install. The soap doesn't slip out of it and there are little ridges that allow the soap to dry. I think the integrated tiled niches look great and I would do that if I were having the bathroom tiled by a pro. But if it's DIY, I think the Swanstone is an excellent choice. We are currently remodeling our main bathroom, and bought an identical Swanstone shampoo/soap niche for the bath/shower combo b/c we love the one we installed in our master shower. Edit -- > we chose the matte white color, I think a lot of the other colors look oddly man-made. you have some tough choices ahead of you. You can easily find some marble that accents and works well with the surrounding area, and make like a corner shelf in one section and then make a cut in shelf on the long wall for your soaps. i think the use of granite or marble will make the bathroom look imaculate and even spark some interest in re doing the bathroom since you've come this far.. but FIRST!! call and make sure that where ever you bought that tile in the first place HAS SOME MORE IN STOCK! I have ran rings around town and jumped from hoop to hoop trying to find tiles that match in NUMBERS of bathrooms ive done..

This is an old thread but I'm currently dealing with the "shaving" issue. I'm replacing a tub-shower combo with a Swanstone shower, and was thinking that putting in the seat would make the shower too cramped. So my Swanstone guy suggested this recessed accessory shelf as an alternative. I think this could work instead of a shelf or seat. Any opinions? I have just skimmed through the responses above, so I might be missing something. Steph2000, I'm not sure if you are having trouble finding a 4" housing or a 4" retrofit LED module to work in the housing. If it's the LED module, I would think the Cooper/Halo retrofit would meet your needs. It can go just about anywhere (I have them outside and in my shower), but you can't use it in housings in direct contact with spray foam insulation. It comes in 4" but I have it in the 5"/6" with my 10' ceilings. It was recommended by my lighting specialist, and it's great. My brother used the 5"/6" in his remodel (he has 8' ceilings at the most) and it looks good there, too. The LED's are a cleaner look than regular recessed bulbs. And once they are installed and you are living with it, you spend about 0% of your time staring at the ceiling.
