Linda, be cool and things will be just fine. You will not get a shock, the computer is at risk from you and static electricity. Everything inside the case except the fans and hard drive are less than 3.5 volts. Fans and hard drives are 12 volt. Remove the power cord from the back of the case before attempting anything inside. Then always rest your bare hand or arm on the metal frame of the computer case to dissipate any static electricity that may be present. The advice to remove both old sticks and insert both new ones is absolutely correct. Just make sure the small slot in the bottom of each stick of RAM is centred over the proper spot on the motherboard and listen for the click as each end clamp pops up to hold the RAM in place as you push down to seat them. You should not have to push the clamps in, they will pop in once the Ram is fully seated.

Sumerday you can get a network card anywhere quite reasonable. The link below is for Wintronic and they have stores in Stoney Creek and St. Catharines. I like the guys in the St. Catharines store, very helpful. But the Stoney Creek store seems less friendly and whilst I know what I am doing without help it is always nice to have comments made to aid you if needed.. The St. Catharines store is on Ontario St perhaps a mile south of the QEW. The Stoney Creek store is on the northwest corner of Centennial and Barton. New bios may be in preperation to avoid win7 problems or some know hardware limitation or problems. I usually update bios's. I don't know for sure but Dell 'should' have a simple failsafe install method for it. That realtech driver update is very popular. My 1.5 yr old toshiba - toshiba just offered a dozen or more hardware driver updates, mostly dealing in advance for Win7 updates. Which by the way the amazon's and other big software sellers are offering upgrade pre-orders till July 11th or while supply lasts ... 50% off sale... $50 home premium and $100 dollars pro versions.

The way that I finally got those particular security updates (KB2656353 and KB2656370) to install was that I went into my Programs (in Control Panel) and uninstalled the .NET Framework programs. Then I went back to Windows Updates and re-installed the .NET Framework programs and their associated security updates. Everything installed without a problem. Apparently there was some issue with Windows Defender related to these particular updates. The clients anti-virus was not up-to-date and after getting MSE installed and updated, I performed the above-mentioned process. I did this for a client who was using the Windows Vista OS.
