I'm looking on the Dell site to get diagrams of the inside of my pc bc. I'm about to open it up and try to format new 1TB hard drives for my Tivo. So far, I haven't found the diagrams, but I did notice that it said that there are updated drivers, software, etc. Should I be installing these updates? I don't believe Secunia ever produced results which suggested there were needed updates - but perhaps Secunia doesn't check Dell software per se.
One it said was critical is below:
Dell Inspiron Desktop 530 System BIOS
Release Date: 3/11/2009
Version: 1.0.18
Other Versions
Download Type: BIOS
File Format: Windows/DOS
File Size: 724 KB
I don't even comprehend this. Should I just install it?
-------------------------------
For my audio,it said there's an urgent one. It said Dell highly recommends applying this update as soon as possible. The update contains changes to improve the reliability and availability of your Dell system.:
Realtek ALC888 HD Audio Release Date: 9/22/2008
Version: 5.10.0.5548, A00
Other Versions
Download Type: Driver
File Format: Hard-Drive
File Size: 37 MB
-----------------------------------------
There were a few other recommended updates that were dated in the fall of 2007. I got my computer in January 2008. Is it safe to assume that I already have these updates on my system? Or could Dell have shipped it out without their own latest drivers?
Thanks.
Lynn.
