Ditra question...

So, I have finally gotten DH on board with Kerdi in the shower, which I have agreed to do, mostly due to Mongo's awesome tutorial. I tiled the walls in the last bath, so it works out fine.

But DH will do the floors and I still am not sure if we would be significantly served by using the Ditra:

The bath is on the 2nd floor, joists are 16" OC, 14' long. We will be using tiles no bigger than 8" on the floor, 3/8" slate. I know there a calculator, but I confess I really don't get it, I think it basically says I can't put tile on my floor, so I am ignoring it.... ;-)

Since the floor is not likely to have moisture problems from below, it is not on a concrete slab, would there be any reason to use it?

Thanks!

ps- I would likely be the one to add it to our job, which I don't mind, because I am sure that DH will continue to get frustrated as I add things to our to do list.
