Firefox-can't find save tabs on exit

Anybody know what happened to Firefox save tabs feature when closing browser? I can't seem to find it in add-ons or extensions.
Loved that feature because I jump right onto my online email and facebook without entering web urls.

Isn't it still in "Options"?

Tools->Options->General

To do what you want, I believe it should be set to "Show my windows and tabs from last time".

Like this:

Chuggerguy, I checked options and can't find it there either. Chrome still has the save tabs option but I have issues with Chrome on Pinterest.

you are very welcome Pam glad that helped. One thing your husband may want to try, this is what I do and like it, I create folders on the bar directly above the tabs which is the bookmarks toolbar, in those folders I put say my daily faves the ones I go to first every day, then all I have to do is right click that folder and hit open all in tabs and voila there they all are. I do a folder for my emails too since I have a few and can open all them at once the same way. I love the bookmarks tool bar, if you choose not to put them in folders you can simply drag any website you are currently on to the bookmarks tool bar by grabbing it's icon in the url bar and just drag it to that toolbar and it will stick, to change the name right click on the icon choose properties and you can make changes. to create the folder on the bar right click a clear space click new folder the box comes up to name it, then to put your faves in there just go to the website and drag it in or right click on the folder and select add bookmark here.

Can't figure out why my Firefox Colorful Tabs don't display

Biwako - I went to options and changed it to default (I had had it set for colors to correlate with domain - and it used to work like that - but I thought I'll try anything). Again - it worked at first - and then the color goes away (it's odd - it's not just when I close a tab or open a new one that it's white - the same tab that was blue before - now is white - no colors now at all). I cannot imagine what add-on might conflict. It's a daunting task to figure out which one. I've been so wild about the FF add-ons - that I have a ton of them. I don't believe any of them were new (oh - except for extensions to try and capture hulu streaming videos). I'll try the safemode and see if colorful tabs works there. If it does, I'm willing to try eliminating those last couple of video capture extensions. If that doesn't work - I'm in for a big, long process of elimination. I don't have any color - or the other extensions that were identified as being incompatible with Colorful Tabs. But something else has gone awry - my all-in-one-sidebar doesn't work consistently either. I guess something I added or updated is causing a problem. I'll report back if I figure it out. Thanks. Is the profile you found in the correct place ? If so, just use the Profile Manager as I suggested above - that's what it's for. You can copy and paste files in, and it might work, but historically that has led to some problems in Firefox. I have done it though. If you use the Profile Manager, you can be sure Firefox "knows" about a different profile. Are you having trouble with that ? (Btw, even if the profile is in an atypical place it will still be loaded by FF and run fine. I actually put my profiles in a different place that I like to keep them.) I don't quite understand your reply to me, "I took it to finding Firefox profiles if it can't be accessed through Firefox." If this clarifies any, you can't run the Profile Manager while Firefox is running. You have to close FF, start the Profile Manager as is explained in the either of the articles, then choose a different profile as the default. It's pretty easy actually. To start the Profile Manager, in the Start>>Run dialog box, type in: firefox.exe -p

If you don't mind getting a little techie, you might locate your active Firefox profile (go though Help -> Troubleshooting Information), exit Firefox (important to exit), move the profile folder some place safe such as your "Desktop" and re-enter Firefox. It will create a new profile folder that will probably solve your problem. You will lose extensions, bookmarks and their keywords (I've did that before too). Like a fresh start. But since you saved a copy of your profile, you can always retrieve bookmarks, etc. Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data I know that's not for everyone but it's really pretty easy. Worse come to worse you can always re-enter the newly created profile folder, quit Firefox (again, important to exit or some of your changes may be overwritten), select and delete all the files/folders and COPY all the files/folders from your saved profile in there and you'll be right back where you started. Like I said, it's not something everyone would want to do but... that's probably what I'd do. :) In fact, I'm on my bedroom computer right now. I have a little one line script that copies my places.sqlite bookmarks file from my living room computer to this computer. That way I have the same bookmarks in here as in there. I haven't tried Firefox sync in ages. It might be fine now but if I remember correctly, it sorta jumbled bookmarks, putting duplicates in subfolders, something like that. I don't exactly remember. But probably for that reason, I just started syncing relevant files and it's worked fine for me. I don't sync to my phone though. I suppose that's where Firefox sync might come in handy? ETA: When you go "into" your active profile through Help->Troubleshooting, you'll be inside the folder you want to move. You'll want to go up a level to do the actual move. I'm sure you'd notice that but someone else might not.

I found something like it on my FF home page. Restore Previous Session. Works good enough. Thanks, guess I just needed some prompting to keep searching. Didn't expect to find it there.

I'm glad you found a workaround.

I still can't figure how why I have that option and you don't though.

It looks like for me:

If I set mine to "Show my windows and tabs from last time", closing Firefox and reopening causes the tabs I had open while closing to be opened again.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding.

That's not the Tools->Options->General menu

It's the Edit ->Preferences -> General dialog boxes.

Lazygardens...what browser/OS are you using? My FF with W7 has the identical box to Chuggerguy's when I open

Chugger's image is what I see in Tools >> Options >> General. I suspect that Firefox in the Linux OS that lazygardens is using is somewhat different. That leads me to wonder why he/she wants to get involved with the problems of a Windows user.

I fired up 2003 Server in Virtualbox to do the screenshot above, so it should look like XP.

Sometimes I do post screens using Linux Firefox. Not this time though. There's not much difference. Linux Firefox "Options" are called "Preferences" and are found under "Edit". So in Linux it is Edit->Preferences->General.

In Linux in looks like this:

The title looks to be the only real difference?

That's really strange ... because there's no reason for FireFox to maintain two different menu systems and two naming conventions.

Lemme look on my WinBox and see what it looks like.

Yeah, I don't know why they do that either. Personal choice of the respective maintainers perhaps?
