Itemise what steps you have tried so we do not suggest those but can offer reasonable help with other ideas.

One presumes/hopes you have ran a couple of scans?
Full scans, not the quick variety.
If so witch scans and did you updates them before scanning?
Were you able to get online to update the scanning programs?

I use disk cleanup that I found on my computer, which seemed to help for awhile. Then on Google chrome went to settings in privacy & found popups & clicked don't allow on any sites. Am using Google Chrome, I guess you knew that . lol Still have popups... am about to throw this out the window . Ty.

Sorry... btw I installed AVG antivirus. which caused all the problems to begin with. Had to uninstall it... but still have the popups on some sites.

You're infected with Ad Ware, delta, speed dial, optimizer pro, my pc back up and things like that. Anti Virus scans will not address these issues. In order to deal with that we need to see a log file, this forum is not friendly to the log file it does not post correctly. If you want help I can help you at the link provided. Register at the forum and post in the spyware forum.

In the mean time your best option now is to run Adwcleaner an junk removal tool download an run those tools. They can be found here--->http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

Most of those toolbar add on's causing your problems can be uninstalled in control panel/programs uninstall, scroll down the list and remove any junk especially anything conduit, right click and uninstall.

The easiest thing would be to install AdBlockPlus for Google to see if that resolves your concern.

If not, I agree first look at Programs and Features in the Control Panel. Delete any and all tool bars, Reboot and then check again to see if they came back.

If the concern does persist download Malwarebytes, update the data files, and do a Threat Scan. This may take some time so be prepared to wait.

If the concern still persists download SuperAntiSpyware, update the data files, and do a Complete Scan. This may take some time so be prepared to wait.

What I see lots of after removing spyware or free addons are the browser links on the taskbar & desktop & start button/programs. When you start the browser with your normal icon click... it goes to some oddball search url as a startup page. And the popups seem to begin.

Need to look at and fix the properties for the browser desktop (and elsewhere) icons.

Thank you for all the help, but can't seem to get rid of those pop ups. I went into the control panel programs but not sure what to uninstall. Don't want to get rid of what I really need. So guess I need a technician. But they don't usually put everything back where they were & then am just lost. Ty, anyway. Am too nervous to install any other programs

If you are redirected, then you may have the redirect virus or a viral toolbar or search conduit, all are viral, and often can be removed in uninstall, or reset IE I don't use other browsers, so can't help you there, the only browser I have as a back up incase IE has problems is slimbrowser, which is awesome and comes with ad blocker and pop up blocker and they work great! I recommend it to many seniors who have problems with IE

I also use Adblock and not only no longer see popups, I no longer see the ads in the margins of webpages. I would highly recommend it.

I run a Mac with Safari, but it is available for Windows as well.

Sharon, I'm not a Tech but in my personal opinion you should either follow some of the advice given above to remove the infection or as you say, have it serviced by a technician.

Personally, I wouldn't try masking the symptoms of infection with an adblocker.

I'd probably restore from backup. That's just me though, I realize not everyone makes backups.

Go to the link Zep provided at bleepingcomputer, download ADWcleaner and run it. Simple as that and it would be fair to say your troubles will be over.

According to your messages you seem not to have an anti virus program running so you invited all these problems.

Download and install either Avira or Avast seeing you do not like AVG. Install the free version, update and run a full scan.

Then grab the free Malwarebytes, install, update and run a full scan.

All problems likely resolved.

And make certain when you uninstall AVG or any other anti-virus software you use their uninstaller as you have to clean it out completely.

W7 & W8 has a built in sandbox type program called "steady state" many do not know exist on your PC it prevents change to the PC by maleware, it is configured into the guest account of every Microsoft PC, however when you set up your PC up the guest act. is disabled so to use this feature you must enable guest account, then log out of admin: act. and login using guest act. Then when something trys to install or get in, a message will pop up that unless you provide admin. rights it will not install. If you do want to install a printer or software, you must log out and come back in using admin act. Or you can simply download Sandboxie, which isolates your browser and prevents maleware or pop ups from getting in and it's Free I've added the link to it below.
