Opera uninstall

Although I donÂt use Opera very much or very often I decided to upgrade to the newest version and to do it with a clean install. Uninstalled old, downloaded new and installed. When it opened it did so with the same home page and had all the old favorites. After a second uninstall I ran CCleaner, Reg seeker and shredded the open space before reinstalling. Same result. Still have all the old favorites and who knows what else. Is the Opera browser installed a bit like getting HIV, youÂll have it when you die? If anyone can suggest a how to to eliminate this program and all its unseen clingy bits I would appreciate it.
