You're probably just having a bit of a bout, Peppi, and have another 40 or 50 years of good health ahead of you. It's the pits waiting though - I hope it all goes away soon so you can get on with spring and summer!

What a pain to be in pain. I know how you feel, except it's my hip that hurts off and on. I've found that naproxyn (sp?) (Aleve) helps, because it's an anti-inflammatory, but it takes a while to be effective, and I have to take it for several days. It's hard on the stomach, so that might not work with your tender tummy.

Yeah, I've had hip problems, too, a lot of pain. Saw a ortho specialist in Feb, xrays show bone spurs, and he says that I'm aiming for a hip replacement at some time in my future. For now, the cortisone shot into the hip (STRANGE!!!) is making a world of difference. I am too young (62) for replacement parts!

Thanks for the warning about how bad 50 is. I still have two more weeks before my warranty runs out and I turn 50. Hope you are better soon. It could be worse, this could have happened in July or August causing you to go without deodorant with sizzling hot weather :P

Oh what I would give to be 50 again! I will say that I have been lucky in the health department. My biggest gripe is having stiffness and aching for the first hour or so that I get up. I have never done well in the morning. I have trouble waking and getting up. I've been that way all my life. My mom used to have to drag me out of bed every day.

However, I enjoy staying up late and have to force myself to go to bed. Crazy.

I guess my morning aches are just a part of aging. I should probably do more stretching.

Hope you're feeling better soon, and can apply deodorant! You're still a youngster to me.

Yes you are too young for all that stuff....but there are medicines for gout...remember that it's an autoimmune sort of thing like arthritis...so nsaids will help....and stay away from foods high in purines...like red meat...

Here's some good news: 51 is better!

Here's some more: DH had severe gout attacks in his 20's, so painful, anti inflammatories barely touched the pain, BUT the meds for preventing an attack really work, hasn't had one in 25 years. I wish you the best.

Peppi, my warranty ran out when I reached 75, but I'm still around! Hoping to make 79 in 3 weeks. Hang in there!

Peppi, I feel for you more than you know. It seems like the ''other'' side of 50 is when things really start to happen. I'm working much harder to take care of myself now that I've hit the other side, but it isn't always easy! I'm thinking good thoughts for you and hope you feel better soon.

Aww poor baby! I hear ya on the warranty stuff. I'm six years older and it's one thing or another! Gout meds do work- our friend has been on them for years. Careful with the advil etc, they can be tummy killers. Get ye to a doc, stat!

Aleve might help more that the Advil.

Oh Carp! Sorry you're having out of warranty problems and I hope they all go away and you can smile again soon. Max has had gout in his foot and his elbow and hand - it's not fun and I hope that isn't what is giving you pain. Sometimes it doesn't take more than sleeping in a different position to make a shoulder ache. Maybe a massage would help.

Hmmmm for the deodorant, can you attach it to a table mounted vice and rub up against it? Same with a potato...stick it on a nail?

Peppi, I agree, go to a doctor. The only problem is that whatever they give you for one thing will usually cause something else! My old doctor did tell me that if a person is over 40 and nothing hurts when they get up, they died in their sleep. (grin)

I'll be 55 the end of this month, and I had about a year when every darned thing went wrong, from my cholesterol to my blood pressure to "oh, you're in menopause, no you aren't". A biopsy, some stomach issues, an outbreak of rosacea on my face and a bout with H1N1. You name it, it happened.

Now I'm feeling fine, so to he!! with the warranty. They make new parts now, and we got lots of miles left on these chassis. Heck, we're classics.

I agree with Sherry, come to Michigan and we'll take care of you. Well, I will right after Ben's wedding anyway.

And there's a Great Lakes Food and Wine Festival very near Elery's in June, I think you and I and Sherry should go, I'll be designated driver and you two can just drink, you'll feel so much better. Elery says you can stay at his house, he's less than an hour from Sherry's and the sweet corn should be just starting and cherries might still be in season...

Lucky you if it didn't start until age 50. Mine started at age 42 and it's been a downhill slide ever since.

I don't think anyone goes to the doctor with every little ache and pain. Some people's genes just aren't as good as others and have much more health problems than others.

I don't live in Sunny Florida, but my welcome mat is out and I don't have stairs either. Truly hope you feel better soon. Don't worry about whining. We all have to do it sometimes.

Sorry Peppie, it doesn't sound like fun. Are you sure it's not from overuse? Knowing that it's gardening time and how you like to do yard work, it might be just from that. If it's not getting better by now, I'd get to the Dr's.

You guys rock! My shoulder is pain free, and the hand is starting to work again. And the foot ain't so bad either.

I did call the doc but she went home at noon, after pulling an all nighter at the office. They run 24/7 and she was stuck there. She will call me tomorrow. I know gout can also be triggered by stress, and while a number of major ones are finally out of my life, like the boss from h*ll, I wonder if this is my body saying enough. Time to relax, so I am taking off work tomorrow and Friday to "chill".

You are all great and I thank you. And I love offers to come and visit. You never know, I may show up on your doorstep.

Peppi, Peppi, Peppi. I'm just seeing this. I knew you were having tummy troubles and knew that you were ok but this is new news. Please go to the Doc. Not being able to lift your arm higher than your waist means something is not right. Probably not a big deal but better to know than not to know. Please go!

My warranty ran out when I was 46...Just trying to keep the old motor running now with new parts! LOL!

Yeah....wouldn't it be nice if we could get extended warranties? LOL

Glad you're feeling better, Peppi, but if those aches and pains come back I'd probably go get it checked out. Better to be safe than sorry.
