Gmail question

I prefer to use Outlook Express for my email. However, several months ago I was having problems. In fact, I think I posted the problems I was having with OE here in this forum. All my emails going to Yahoo and SbcGlobal were being rejected. I discussed this problem with my provider (Cox).....and since the problem was not solved, I opened a Gmail account. My gmail works okay, but I still feel more comfortable using the Outlook Express.

In the meantime, my Outlook Express problems were solved by Cox. It is working fine now. When I opened my Gmail account, I had the OE emails transferred to Gmail. In reality, about half of the OE emails were transferred. The rest stayed in my OE account. Since my Outlook Express is now working okay, I want to undo my request for my OE emails to be transferred to Gmail.

Let me know if you know how to undo this transfer of emails. Your help will be appreciated.

I don't know about what you are requesting, but you can have your gmail mails downloaded in OE. My provider does not have an e-mail server, so I have a couple of gmail accounts. I have them configured to download to Outlook Express, and this works just fine for me. I simply open OE and get my emails.

Open your gmail account and click Settings. Then choose Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Tick 'Disable forwarding', and then under Status tick whichever choice you wish. The instructions are also there for configuring OE to allow gmail to be downloaded.

This might be easier and better for you than trying to reverse the other action.

If I understand correctly, you want to stop bringing your mail from OE into gmail. On the gmail screen, it looks like you could click on Settings; then the tab called Forwarding and POP/IMAP. There are places there to disable either POP or IMAP. Have you tried that? I'm sure there is someone more knowledgeable about it than I am, but I hope this helps.

There appears to be no way with Gmail. If this is for business why don't you use an address set up with your regular internet provider? Then IE has that feature. You could investigate msgtag.com they add something to the message so it immediately reports to you when the email gets opened. In my humble opinion it is one ignorant program, very invasive. One lady sends updates for her web site to me using it but I have never opened her emails since, I use the back door to read her message and modify her site.

ad block does not hide any of those buttons I have it on my pc and see all the buttons and links mentioned in gmail. it really doesn't matter since gmail gives you so much space doubt it fills up and they just give you more every so often. but I have never seen one that did not show those options as shown in the screen shot of select: All None Read etc. Mine is exactly like the screen shot. Only one I bother clearing out is the spam and it also has the link to clear all at once which is what I use.

My GMail account has a Log Out link at the top right corner of the message screen. It also has a box you can check when you log in that will keep you logged in. Not checking the box requires you to submit your account name and password each time you log in.

Usually they want you to add them to your contacts list otherwise it may be sent to junk and deleted.

I was not very clear as to what I was wanting to do, but I think both Grandms and Pam read between the lines. I just went to Settings, Forwarding......then disabled POP. I think that will stop my Outlook Express emails from being sent on to gmail.
