KS, I love my duplex; it is in its first year. My shots of it are blooms down low; I can tell yours is "up high" - how large is it, if you don't mind my asking? I was so amazed at the sweet fragrance of the buds. I am really enjoying seeing everyone's shots. Windeaux, frankly, I am staying out of the brouhaha because I don't really care what the rose is. I wish they'd get some of those free-use pics of Redoute's drawings and use those. I hate this to turn into some kind of a competition; I just like to see the fruit of everyone's gardens. I am sure glad we're back! I am really sad that the under $20K thread is gone though. That was a good thread. Maybe I'll give it a couple of days to reappear, and if it does not I'll start it over.

I've been a member of a big switch of a group that was much more tightly tied together than this one. About half the group didn't make the switch. Only a few stayed on both. Both groups thrived, but the cultures changed vastly. One thing that I think is good about this system is that we don't actually have an archive of really good threads. People generate new conversations when they come in and ask the same old question. That way they're brought into the fold, and made welcome. And new opinions are added. Example: cast iron vs. stainless steel sink. I've personally answered this at least a dozen times, each a little differently, targetted to the specific way the question was asked. If we just had sticky topics, or different topics with subthreads for sinks, we wouldn't have that kind of immediate welcome to the big ol' group. Instead, if a thread is good enough, someone will have it saved or something and provide a link, but people will still answer the question. I think it's also good that our social questions are mixed in with the Rixi tile questions and floorplan reviews. More modern software wouldn't do that. BUT...I wonder if the page losses happen when people make coding errors using HTML in their messages. I did that once where it affected how the preview page posted. I wonder if it's possible for something to get through and screw up the works?

Buehl, The message you are seeing at the bottom of the email (PLEASE NOTE: The member responding to your post has chosen not to reveal his or her email address. Therefore, you cannot reply to this message via email) only means that you are not able to respond by clicking Reply within your email account (gmail, yahoo, outlook, hotmail, etc, etc). However, there is a way to send them a response ... go to their 'My Page' and respond to them from there. You do not have to respond via your email account. If they are set up to be able to receive email, you can respond to them from their My Page the same way they emailed you (they went to your My Page). NOTE however, if they do not have their account set up to receive emails as in your instructions above, you will not be able to reply to them from their My Page either. I have mine set up for 'none' and I see that you have your account set up this way as well which I think is smart . . . . I noticed something that made me change my settings ... When you email someone, if they have their email revealed, GW will automatically show you the person's email address. Just in case any spammers ever come trying to harvest email addresses, I thought it would be a good idea to change my settings. Because I use my real, work email address in GW, not a fake throwaway address. Click the first link below and you will see an example of how you can see that person's email address. Typically, when I send a private message to someone using GW, I include my email address in the body of the message, so they can respond without having to search me out using My Page. But I can still keep my email address private within my gardenweb settings. This way it makes it easier for the person I am messaging. I can choose to send/receive emails and neither of us has to unblock our email address. I have sent a suggestion asking GW to make this message that appears at the bottom of the email more clear, because it is very confusing how they have it worded.
