Pop Ups This Site Only

Hello....Usually don't have to post to this forum as a search generally answers my question. Thanks to all who participate. However,I have done a search but can not find answer to this. I only get pop ups at this website.

I-village and dove are the main ones. I do not have this problem on any other web site I visit or post in so I think my computer protection is good.

Does anyone have any idea what causes this and how I can stop it? It is most annoying.

I don't see ads. None, nada, zip, nothing.
It is real easy. Just edit your HOST file.
The link below tells what you need to do.

You will still need a pop up blocker.
Otherwise, pages would pop up, but you would
get a message saying "this page cannot be displayed."

I got the frames (border, whatever, the empty box) for the dove popup for two days but not today. I put it into adblock two days ago but still got it yesterday then not today. Go figure.

Bobb, as a paid member I don't see the ads as long as I've logged in ... however, on those occasions I don't bother log in, I do get to see those ads, and there's nothing there I'm interested in either. From the comments I've seen in various forums, the women gardeners seemed just as annoyed as the men, maybe more so. (In retrospect, some were kind of funny in a way ... I mean, really ... the best man thong!?!?) Some of those ads were really tacky (at best) to obnoxious (at worst) for a while there, and I made my feelings known to GardenWeb as well as directly to the sponsors of those ads. I'm glad to see that someone seems to have been listening and toned them down a bit. Also glad to see I'm not the only stodgy ol' curmudgeon in the garden :-) Diane

It is the most obnoxiously intrusive ad I have seen. I have tried to scroll up to the x to close it, but it won't let me-it keeps bouncing back to the center. Don't the idiots that designed or bought the ad realize it has the opposite of the intended effect? I wouldn't buy the product for any reason. When clicking return to Hosta Forum it restarts the pop up ad, so I have been using the back arrow instead. Les

They are contextual advertising and are one of the sources used to pay the bills so Garden Web remains a free website. I understand that, but I still don't like them. Click on the link below to read the announcement about them, and then click on the link in that announcement to Opt Out. Dove ads returned midway through my secession here today. I had not seen them since Jun 18.

The HOST file link is beyond my understanding, too old perhaps.
