Sub-zero 36BI SXS freezer trouble

Not sure if anyone has a remedy I can do without calling service out... But my 5 month old sub-zero has completely stopped being cold in the freezer compartment. The fridge is fine but in the last 3 hours the control says the temp in the freezer has gone up about 12 degrees from the setting at 0 and rising. Anyone have advice?

Ya took the trouble to crawl outta that mound just to post this, Antss?

First, (Probably already too late), find another place to store the stuff in the freezer.

Second, see if you can hear the compressor running for the freezer, be careful not to confuse it with the compressor for the fridge.

Try cutting the power to the unit, leave off a minute or 2 then repower the unit.

Try setting the temp control all the way up and down a couple times, the leave at the coldest setting.

At least you are under warranty, so Antss is somewhat
"On target" with his advice, but my "Hunch" is that you were hoping to get it working "ASAP" so you don't loose what's in it?

I could certainly be wrong but from the sound of your post you sound like someone who has "aspired" to have a SubZero fridge not necessarily for a functional reason but to have the brand. It sounds as if you're going all out - two Miele dishwashers, etc. - so why not just go for the SZ? If you think about all the people who have been keeping their food chilled without investing in SZ, there has to be something people "value" about SZ other than it's functional ability to keep food chilled or frozen that would make them pay the premimum price. Could be appearance, appeal of saying you have the brand, etc. In any case if you want one and want to spend the $ go for it. It seems you can count on repairs with any brand these days - kind of like luxury auto brands. Just because you spend alot doesn't mean it will be trouble free.

I've had Sub-Zeros in various homes for nearly 30 years. I'd never consider another brand. I also think the refrigerators the company is producing today are the best they've ever made. The Sub-Zero warranty is second to none, and on the couple of occasions when I required a service call, Sub-Zero's service was fast and efficient. In both instances, the required repair was covered under warranty. I doubt you'd be happy with another refrigerator. Sub-Zero's dual compressor system really does make a difference, especially in the refrigerator compartment where the higher humidity level in a Sub-Zero keeps food, and especially produce, fresher much longer than in an ordiary fridge. You'll also find that the model 650 has a much larger freezer section than in your previous model, with much better accessibility. The pull-out drawer is a huge improvement. The idea of a counter-depth slide-in fridge sounds awful to me, especially the idea of leaving the old Sub-Zero grill above. It would look sloppy, unfinished and like you were skimping -- particularly if the edges of the cabinetry around the refrigerator opening aren't finished. Do yourself a favour and go for another Sub-Zero -- you'll be much happier. But if you're still tempted to look at another brand of built-in -- be sure to compare the warranties. Just my two cents. I cant comment as to the monogram, but we have had the KA in for 3 months and have no major complaints. Its been fairly quiet. The water on the door comes out through a filter and it tastes good enough, that I have considered getting rid of the bottled water delivery. We dont use tons of ice, but the icemaker capacity is very large compared to my last kenmore. I paid about 5500 and couldn't justify spending 7000-12000 on the sz even though the one w/the glass door looks amazing. As to the lights looking cheap, I dont know what the lights should look like, but throw a few items into the fridge and I dont think you'll notice at all. My only complaint was on the door shelves for the fridge side. The fronts come up fairly high and items dont come out as easily as I would like, but I have gotten used to it. Good luck.

Well, I must admit that your SZ sure preserves "Horse Feathers" well, and it is kind of you to share your "More than adequate supply of same, with those of us here In GW! SZ mentions as one of 3 things needed to "keep food fresh" is precise temp control and they mention their +/1 degree F~~~~~well that's just half as good as the JA which is +/- 0.5 F. One can not control the temps of the various compartments, (meat, veggie & Chrisper) in the SZ as they can with the JA, (at least my model of JA), and in fact Consumer Reports mentioned that fact, as other fridges do have that capability besides my JA. CR also mentioned that the SZ is more noisy than some other fridges, (maybe that goes along with the horse feathers)? I grow my own boysenberries, and they keep very well in my JA fridge. The JA fridge3 has the "Climatezone" storage has automatic humidity control which does not require a $50 filter that must be changed every year (a la SZ). My JA also has "Built in" diagnostics. It checks every fan, thermistor, defrost sensors, compressor speeds, etc etc, sooooo if I ever do have a problem, I can "Nail it down" to which part is giving problems and not call a repair company to first "come out, look see", then make a guess as to what part is needed, then order the part and then come back. Well, It used to be SZ was , as you posted, "in a class of its own"~~~~but that was "Pricewise ONLY"~~~~now the other fridges have caught up with SZ's prices, as I posted here, probably round 7 years ago, ~~~so now folks hafta pay thru the nose on just about any built in fridge, thanks to SZ! And to think I've been called a windbag?

Glad y'all were able to DIY, but wouldn't you really want to know why the unit kicked off? It's not like it's old and tired, and while it's still under warranty why wouldn't you call? The "service" backing is part of the reason to buy a higher priced unbit in the first place.

I can not tell where the Op is from, but there were a lot of power interuptions in much of the USA due to the hurricane.
Any slight interuption of the power or a line glitch, can cause the computer part of the Mother Board on various appliances to "Just Get Lost" It's out in La La land.
Turning off the power,leaving it off for a minute or two, and back on causes the computer to reset (Home) so now it again knows where it is. Usually the settings on such an appliance will go back to "factory default" so you might have to readjust things back to the way you like them.
