For what it is worth - my Mom purchased one from Sears and
had nothing but problems. Constantly had "code errors" which
causes to entire unit to shut down. NO BURNERS worked. After
repeated attempts (the unit was 14 months old) they pulled it
out called Goodwill to pick it up - piece of junk. When out
and bought a GE Profile and are very happy - The GE is not
induction. Hope this helps to give serious consideration before you buy. Good luck.

That really helps. Finding any information on cooktop is really hard !!! Think I will consider another cooktop.

I have this unit. It is a near clone of the Electrolux Icon induction cooktop. I don't have it in the kitchen yet, but it is set up in another room for testing and heating low effluent foods.

Mine, purchased last December, works in all modes that I have tested (not exhaustive). It is much faster heating water than my electric burner coil range (soon to be a memory), or a radiant burner counterpart that a neighbor let me test.

So far it has only made noise (and this noise is in the heated container -- a Deyemeyer kettle) when on power boost, and not at regular maximum level 9. Heating a couple of quarts of water for tea doesn't even motivate its fan cooling system.

cpccarolyn's unfortunate mom may have had an early model, or was just not able to find competent service. I believe a few others here have this cooktop without failures reported so far. As it is made by Electrolux with a slightly different edge trim design, one would want to look at the Electrolux reports to determine whether those are showing reliability problems. I haven't noticed any on this forum, unlike their refrigerators.

The choice is mainly financial. The Kenmore, particularly when on sale, is available for well under $2k, whereas the products sold by higher end companies who might have longer included warranties are significantly more expensive.

One can bet against Sears and buy the 5 year service plan. It is a modest cost, way under the cost difference of a Diva, for example. And it is, in its own way, a measure of Sears' estimate of reliability over 5 years.

Mine has been up and running for about 3 weeks now. I'm very happy with it. I purchased it not knowing it was made by Electrolux which is kind of funny because I went on to buy the Electrolux, oven, micro and dishwasher. I don't like the framing around the entire cooktop with the Electrolux model but find the top and bottom stainless frame on the Kenmore very nice in looks and ease of cleaning. I paid about $1600 for mine when Sears was having a friends and family event with 30% off.

Does anyone here have the Electrolux Hybrid?
I was in Sears today and saw it on display.
Apparently it has 2 induction burners and 2 to 3 electric
burners.
I recently bought a house and it looks as if most of the appliances have seen better days.

Nanathree, like you I was looking into purchasing an induction cooktop. I bought one from sears back in the eighties when they came out and I loved it but when we sold that house I had to leave it behind.
I recently went to the old place to a party and would you believe my cooktop was still there. I have no idea whether
the owners have had to call the repair man nor how many times but I was amazed that it was still there.
