Joint between corian counter and unglazed tile backsplash wall
Comments (6)"Which should I use on the corian/tile backsplash junction: silicone or water-based caulk? " If the area is silicone contaminated you likely have little choice but to use silicone, but even then you need to get the area as clean as possible. Naphtha seems to work better than other solvents. If you get the silicone level low enough new silicone caulk should work fine. Its chief drawbacks are being a PITA to apply and clean up, a limited number of colors, and it is not paintable (not an issue in this application). I have noticed a lot of poorly done tile joints lately. Wall tiles sitting tight on counters leaving no real space for caulk. Bathrooms seem to be even worse. Wall tiles so tight against the floor of the shower you can only make a large cove of caulk instead of a narrower joint that is less prone to damage from cleaning (leading to the inevitable leaks)....See MoreCorian countertops with Tile backsplash - question
Comments (11)It's like ummm just a left turn at Russia Bill...sheesh :oP (and Bill my dear....my current estimate of costs for the tile errors...I'm pushing gad over $6,000...that's six grand JUST TO FIX ERRORS (rebuild shower that wasn't properly sealed...which includes new tile and new frameless glass door and vent panel, tile to cover the missing tile the tile guy walked off with, tile to replace the tile used wrong (not installed or cut with the pattern in mind and install costs for the bad tile guys). I did find a wonderful guy...but I could really have flown you up first class and kept you in the finest moose lodge in town :oP I'm jealous though...when Bill is doing your tile (OP) please take lots of pics and post them for us. A Bill Original...sheesh I'd almost move for one LOL...See MoreCorian backsplash options, which to choose?
Comments (7)Several years ago we replaced our laminate with Corian. Going in to the project I wanted the counter straight back to the wall and then tiled on the wall for a clean look; however when the Corian guy came to measure he talked about the ease of cleaning a coved back splash and there wouldn't be any 90 degree corner to keep clean, so I relented and did the coved backsplash. Now I regret it. Yes, the coved back splash is nice; however there's the extra ledge that the tile sits on top of to keep clean. I would not do the coved backsplash. It would also give it a more modern look....See MoreBacksplash tile decision
Comments (1)Nothing wrong with a Corian Counter. Concrete performs worse than marble. Rethink it. Chicklet tile for the splash after removing the existing 4” would work....See Morebuyorsell888
