Could I ask for prayers, please?

My,darling DIL, Anna, whom I love like a daughter, has just found, that after 25+ years, her cancer has returned. She had breast cancer surgery twice (about 10 years apart) and now faces surgery again. She has an appointment tomorrow (Monday) and we'll know more then.

Please remember her in your prayers. There IS power in prayers as I'm well aware.

Just a short update but no real news yet. They ordered the special eyedrops again and he should have them by tomorrow (they are made up using his own blood and done back East for that matter). He sees the eye doc on Thurs. If this is like past times, it is just a "wait and see" if the drops work and his eyesight is restored in that eye again. Because Jason survived something no one else had, he's often been uncharted territory for his doctors. They have taken chances on experimenting with him and as I said before, he's gotten a LOT of miracles. He is now legally blind, but his eye doc (a few years ago) found if Jason wears TWO pair of contacts in each eye---one soft and one hard--his vision is literally 20-20. But he can't have the contacts in more than 8 hrs or he gets eye infections. That is why he had to take medical retirement from being a homocide detective a year ago. His eyes were at risk from long hours on the job with contacts in. His wife has been amazing as well as he has. They are true soul mates, who live life to the fullest and laugh daily. She calls him "Sparky" in fact, to show their sense of humor. Jason feels there's nothing he can't do in spite of his eyes and hands, he just finds other ways to do stuff if necessary. He again can play golf with his dad and friends, and play it almost as well as ever. Shooting in the 70s as he once did. He amazes me daily. What can I say but 'wow'..I am so blessed! I really do feel better today...I called the other nite 'my pity party'..I truely do not want ya'll to feel 'sorry' for me...but dang I sounded like it when I read my posts...I was having a hard time the other nite..but a huge THANK YOU to everyone! I really do feel better today and stronger..thank you all!!!..sincerely! carrie..they do try other meds..but his system adjusts to them so fast they have to keep increasing them more and more..and all these drugs really do have nasty side affects..thank you for your prayers and concern! Suzi, thank you so much, I have to say 'us' 3 as a family now, are so strong together, and my GW friends who say so many prayers for us makes 'us' stronger!! we need ya'll! denise, I have looked up everything (I thought) about Lewy Bodies...yet you gave me a few sites I had not read..the only thing these are not talking about is his anger...it is so intense, and the neurologist said this is part of LB's... Thank you so much for your research and caring ..and especially your prayers! From the homes we have visited, most would take Pop with Az..but when we mentioned LB's they said they were not equipped to take 'these' patients..go figure! pk, it is difficult and seems to be more so as the days go by..but 'we' as the family we have will stick together..thank you so much for your prayers...I know they are helping! melvalena, again thank you so much for your prayers! I hope we can find a place that is willing to take Pop considering his anger...but my real wish is that they could possibly grow to love him as we do... Sally, thank you so much for your prayers! We have located an Az locater here in our area and they are helping us. My DH and DMNL went to a facility today that is 'hopeful' yet not cheap by no means..but actually got to talk to the neurologist on the spot and they have '1' opening due to a death..this is the strongest possiblity... Shelly, I wish you well. I wonder if you are having the same thing I had done 4 years ago. After several MRI's and Xrays to diagnosis the problem I went to the Neurosurgeon who injected cortizone into my neck and also my lower back. I went three weeks in a row for the shots. I also have arthritis and bulging discs. The steroid injections worked wonders and I haven't had to return yet. I am starting to get a few twinges in the same lower back area but so far nothing like what I had experienced before. There were days when I couldn't get out of bed because of the lower back pain. I didn't have any difficulty with the injections and I opted to have local shots of Zylocaine to numb the area rather than be sedated. The only pain I felt was from the first shot of Zylocaine- and that pain only lasts for about 10 seconds and then you're numb. Then he injected more Zylocaine to numb the rest of the area. My Neurosurgeon is a genius and the needles he used are amazingly thin. Most of the others patients who were there for the shots chose the sedation. I'll be thinking of your tomorrow. Try to relax.

4 years ago, I lost my dear cousin and her son to a similar accident. They were driving home from a vacation and her husband fell asleep at the wheel and rolled their vehicle. My cousin was 9 months pregnant and had taken her seatbelt off to be comfortable and her 13 year old son had taken his seatbelt off to lay down in the seat and sleep. They were both thrown from the car and killed along with the baby my cousin was carrying. Her other 4 children and their father survived. It is devastating. I tell people all the time...if you are tired....DO NOT DRIVE. The cost of a motel rooom is not worth the risk. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Don't have a lot of news but....what I have is encouraging
The surgeon is the same one I had in 2007 at age 75,. Mine was stage 1, insitu and only needed a lumpectomy. I preferred a double mastectomy because personally everone I knew had to go again and again and I just wanted it gone,
He told Anna and her family that this was a cell that had been "sleeping" lo this last 27 years and had reared it's ugly head. She's having a PET scan Wed, morning at 7:30 and the results will determine the next move. If and that's a big IF, it has not spread she will have a football shaped incision the size of a lemon. Friends, I love lemons!

I still covet your prayers.

Another update......Apparently things were moving a little fast for the insurance co. in regard to the Pet Scan so it has been delayed until next week.

Finally moving on with Anna's testing. A CT Scan at 7:30 this morning,,,,will be read by the oncologist on Wed. Your thoughts and prayers mean so much.

I'm sorry, Gellchom. You are so sweet to ask. I started a new thread "Update on Anna" since this one was getting quite lengthy.

She got the results from the Pet scan on Wednesday of this week. It showed a spot on her spine that could possibly be the result of an old injury, which she doesn't remember having, but at any rate they are going to do an MRI on April 2nd. She will see the oncologist on April 17th and learn the results then.
I'm hanging on to the thought that she fell down a complete flight of stairs at home a few years ago and hit the wall in front of her with her left foot. Tore her heel all to pieces and she has a brass plate and screws in it. She was off work for several weeks. Nothing was said about a back injury at the time, but????? I have not mentioned this to her. False hope is not a good thing, I'm afraid.
