Very simply, just use a towel to clean the fixtures and walls after use. I also recommend using only liquid soap in a shower as bar soap contains animal fat and, therefore builds up a residue. The only possible exception is Dove.

We've been using our new shower for about 3 weeks and I just squeegee and sometime spray some daily shower cleaner. We have Moen brushed nickel fixtures and I have found that a little bit of Pledge works really nicely on them! I haven't posted pics yet either - I'm waiting on vanity backsplash and new door.... sigh.

We just finished new shower floor in 4x5 walkin shower. My husband is now cleaning the mosaic tile on floor with towell. He already sealed the tile, is it really necessary to use towels to clean the floor everytime?

I buy all kinds of vegan soaps for my husband, who refuses to use shower gel-and we still have soap scum.

Based on what I've learned, if you've properly sealed your stone mosaic flooring, which could mean several coats depending on the stone and how pourous (sorry if spelled wrong) it is, you should not have to towel dry the floor after each use. The floor should have a slant that directs the excess water to the drain and that should be sufficient. If you're still concerned though, I recommend you post your question in a new thread so some of the professionals can weight in.

By the way, if you are interested, I found a good product to clean my shower. It is called Simply Safe Shower Cleaner(Google to find their website if interested). This product is environmentally friendly and ph neutral. It does not harm my brushed nickel and is safe to use on grout and any type of tile too, even stone such as marble or granite.

A quick history of the 'before' of our project: This bathroom was actually an addition to the home, not a remodel of an existing space. Our house, built in 1964, used to have a flat roof deck off the second floor master bedroom which was 20 x 12. The master bedroom had a very tiny closet and a very tiny bathroom. We decided to enclose the deck and incorporate it into living space as part of the master bedroom. The first three photos are 'before pictures' The first two show what the deck looked like before the construction began and there's also one picture taken during the construction. The remainder of the pictures show the finished bathroom and one picture of the new closet. We divided the 20 x 12 space into a new closet which is 7 x 12 and a new master bath which is 13 x 12.

Materials in used in the bathroom:
Tile on floor and in shower: 20 x 20 porcelain. I don't know the name of these tiles, but they were purchased at Cancos, a chain of tile stores here on Long Island where we live. (Cancos also has a location in Manhattan and one in Queens). Accent tiles in shower are glass with marble pencil liner border running across the top and bottom rows of the glass tiles. Also purchased at Cancos.
Cabinets: Merillat Masterpiece Maple, color is chestnut
Cabinet pulls: Top Knobs
Countertops: Corian, color is Oat. The sinks are integrated (one piece with the countertop) and are Corian white.
Sink Faucets: Danze Fairmont Widespread, brushed nickel. Soap dispensers on countertop were purchased at Bed, Bath & Beyond and are a great match to the faucets.
Towel Rings and Toilet Paper Holder: Danze Bannockbun, brushed nickel
Showerhead on bar: Grohe Movario, brushed nickel. Thermostatic. Trim piece on shower wall with control handles are Delta Brizo.
Shower base: Corian bone color. I regret not getting the base in the Oat color (same as the countertops). I think I would have been much happier. Although the bone base matches the shower tiles nicely, the solid color shows everything.....every water spot and piece of hair. I am constantly having to wipe it down. Not sure what I was thinking when I chose the color.
Shower niches and seat: Corian Oat color.
Toilet: Kohler Memoirs comfort height
Towel Warmer: Amba/Jeeves, straight bars, Model E. We put it on a timer.
Lighting: Portfolio 4-light brushed nickel fixtures from Lowes, Item #115280, Model #93240. There are also hi-hats in the room.
Radiant Floor Heat: Warm Tiles
Mirrors: We went to a local custom picture framing shop and they made up wood picture frames for us in the exact size we wanted. We gave these frames to our tile guy, who tiled them with the same glass tile we have as an accent in the shower. We then brought the tiled frames back to the store and they put mirrors in the frames for us.
Wall Color: Behr's Premium Plus Ultra Soft Chamois

I'm very happy with the towel warmer. I had been a little hesitant to spend that much money, but it was worth it!! We have ours hooked up to a timer, but it's not necessary to do that. It can be left on all the time, as I'm sure you know. Yes, they are bath towels--they're pretty large and thick ones, actually. I bought them in Costco. I'm not home now, but I can measure the towels and post that info. if you'd like. I don't remember which model I have, but I can also look up that information if you'd like to know. I can tell you that it's not one of the curved models. The straight models were cheaper and also I had thought that a straight model would be better as far as all parts of the towel lying flat against the rails, thereby doing a better job of warming. I'm not sure whether that's a valid concern, just my own thinking. I also figured you'd hardly notice the curviness anyhow when towels were placed on it. I no longer fold them the way you see them folded in my photo. Those pictures were taken while I was still experimenting with how to fold to get the towels the warmest. I found that the towels didn't get very warm at all when I put them on the rack the way you see in the photos. Now, I fold each towel vertically into three sections, then fold it over once. I then put them on the towel warmer so that they run the length of the towel warmer, half the towel on the front and half on the back. The towels sit vertically next to each other, not one above the other as seen in the picture. Let me know if you want to see pictures, because I'm not sure if I am explaining the folding/placement clearly. I bought the towel warmer online from Vintage Tub & Bath. At that time (close to a year ago), they had the best deal on the one I wanted, they shipped quickly and it arrived in great condition with no problems.

Let me know if you want any other information or more pictures, I'd be happy to post again. All these decisions are so agonizing. I know I agonized over every little thing.

Glad the pictures helped. We use do the towel warmer in the summer. With a/c, it feels a little chilly when you are wet and coming out of the shower, so it's still nice to have a warm towel. Another advantage of using the towel warmer is that it dries the towels after use, so you never get a musty smell in them when they are hung out to dry. Of course, if you use a fresh towel with each shower, as some folks do, that's wouldn't be an issue anyway.....personally, I'd rather not create a ton of extra laundry by changing my towel on a daily basis, but that's me.

I went to a custom picture frame store and picked out picture frame wood that closely matched my cabinetry. They built the mirror frames according to the size specifications I provided. I took them home and my tile guy did the tile work with the same glass tiles we used as an accent in the shower. Yes, there are tiles on all sides of the mirrors. The only wood you see is a little bit on the front inside edges, but it looks fine because the wood I chose matches my cabinets. The glass tiles came on a mesh type of backing, with space in-between for grout, that can be cut to size. We have two rows of tiles on the front as you can see, and two rows that wrap around the edges. Had the mirror frame been wider, we would have used more tiles--three or four rows. With this frame, however, two rows of tiles fit perfectly. After the tiling was finished, we brought the mirrors back to the frame store, they installed the glass for us, attached a heavy duty wire for hanging, and provided us with hardware (heavy duty picture hooks). I am going to post some more pictures of the mirrors for you to see. I'll take some close-ups of the sides and front so you can see more detail. I'm not home right now and probably won't get to it tonight, but I will try to do it in the next day or two....by the end of the week at the latest. Don't give up on me, I promise I won't forget!

I realized that I made a typo in my prior post to you. The sides of the mirror have just one row of tiles, which you'll see in the photos. Only the front has two rows.

One other thing that came to mind about the mirrors...I recall the tile guy sanding the parts of the wood frame that were to be covered with tile. I think it had to do with getting better adhesion.

I need to re-read this thread about cleaning. I never thought it would be such a concern. I also need to read the information on all the materials in my bathroom.

Our basco shower door (not installed yet) recommends lysol bath cleaner, the store said use cascade not windex on the glass, I haven't read the Delta shower fixture info yet, but noticed the mention above about no lysol, yikes!
