Not sure I understand but my imagination is entertained! Do you mean like reverse art on glass, paint, metal leaf, images, etc moisture sealed on the back of glass panels, then some how sealed to wall with a tile space between the two panels to match end walls? Love this idea, and going a step further, what if the glass back was open on the other side becoming the light source in the shower as well?

I am interested in this too. I've only seen it once, but there was no description for it. I was able to find one company in our town who does it. They spray the tempered glass with a special epoxy paint. They said they are so busy they have not had time to put an estimate on the work. I hope they hurry because I have my tile sitting in my bathroom waiting for my tile installers to have an opening. I would prefer a solid surface and I think the glass would be really cool and different. Did you get an estimate?

Haven't got an estimate yet, but am having more glass work done and plan to ask them this as a side question once they are here. I find people are so reluctant to think out of the box or do anything unusual. But once you have them convinced they are getting more work and that you are not completely crazy...

Glass backsplashes are common, maybe I'll ask some modern kitchen display stores if they can recommend someone. The principle is the same. The paint on the back of the glass has to withstand the glue. Not sure if obscure glass alone will be opaque enough.

Bodica, I like your idea with the light source, but wouldn't be able to to it in my situation. I'd be afraid if there's a hollow behind the glass, that it would be less solid.

I'm just looking for plain frosty green. I like simplicity. The tiled walls on each end and the foot wide space between the two glass panels will be done in oversized tile (3'x 3') also to avoid groutlines. I've seen pics of an all-glass shower and it seemed a bit cold and overwhelming. I'm countering the cold green-ness with some warm yellows and orange and lots of wood.

Oh Yes, I have a 120" long mirror back splash in my kitchen with concealed undercab lighting and plug strip behind a valance,wall to wall. That would be fun to hide the lighting behind art glass there too?

I was thinking the same temperd glass as the bath/shower walls, maybe not for you but would that pass code if applied for same idea art wall, strength and safety?

I was looking for the pics I've seen in Trends Magazines' website, but can't find them. Also in the fabulous bathroom book called Ultimate Bathroom Design. Mostly I see glass walls in European, Asian and Australian publications. Is it too modern for the US overly-traditional market?

Re: wood, there are extensive cabinets in my bathroom. They are currently just 80's laminate ones, but I'm covering them with bamboo veneer. Did that already with my kitchen cabs successfully. Walls will be 3 different colors: deep orange, off white, and yellow! I'm going for a colorful modern asian look. The inspiration comes a bit from some Cheng design bathrooms I've seen in magazines. I don't find his bathrooms on his website either. Floors and countertop: polished concrete. It's a large bathroom with very tall ceilings and the tub corner is a sunroom nook. There's also a good deal of greenish glass block. I love this bathroom despite the current look with pink and grey formica and dusty pink walls...

That is expensive! I wonder if there are cheaper solutions. Glass itself is pretty cheap these days (imported). Can it be painted evenly at home? you can get a glass store to make you the clear glass and then put a colored film to create that look.
This seems to be a project that i will take on when i am ready to do the master bath. meanwhile i am still finishing my bubinga/marble/glass tile bathroom :)

Pharoah can you tell me more about your present bathroom? Where are you getting good prices on glass- is this for your shower door or glass tile?

The glass should be tempered.
