stainless steel cleaner and dishwasher soap

I purchased a leibherr refrigerator and wolf stove in stainless steel. Can anyone recommend a good s/s cleaner for both appliances that you have personally used and if so where did you buy it. Additionally, if you can recommend a good dishwaher soap for MIele dishwasher. Thanks in advance.

I use Weiman spray Cleaner and Polish.
Then use it with a microfiber cloth made for stainless steel and always rub with the grain of the metal.

I clean our Stove, Fridge, Dishwasher and Microwave once a week with this cleaner/polish and cloths and it takes about 5-10 minutes total for all 4 appliances and they stay looking like brand new all week.

See the KA fridge thread--I use my alcohol-water spray on my Wolf range and other SS in my home as well.

I have just tried several different cleaning methods to remove fingerprints off of my range hood. The hood has a chase the goes up to a 12' ceiling with light hitting it from all directions. Everytime I thought I removed the fingerprints that were there from the installation, I would see them again when the light hit it from a different angle. I tried Zep Commercial, Rockit oil and Ceramibrite. I buffed all of them per the instructions but under some light the fingerprints were still there. I tried plain water. I tried Windex which left tons of streaks. White Vinegar worked very well but the winner was Isopropyl Alcohol. It removed all the oil cleaners and took care of the fingerprints. I decided to leave it without any polish. My thinking is that the polish leaves a slight oil film which will attract dust. I would like for someone else to try this and see what they think. At the very least it is a good prep if you want to apply polish without having the underlying streaks or fingerprints. I don't have my other appliances yet. I may try polish on those since they are easier to clean than the hood and chase.

Are you talking about the stainless steel or the white scribbling on the wood-look part? If the stainless steel part...I would call the manufacturer and see what they recommend. May be a defect in the SS face plate.

Patti, Don't they all fill from the top? I have an American Standard soap dispenser and it fills from the top. However, it has always been difficult for me to fill without spilling and overfilling (since I really can't see how full it's getting as I refill it)--a big mess. Maybe you're just not as clumsy as I am. In addition, the soap container attached to the dispenser is fairly small, necessitating frequent refills. When I saw the Never-MT discussed here, I knew I had to order one. (I did, it's installed, and I love it.)

Ordinary "rubbing alcohol" is 30% water which can remain as droplets after cleaning if not caught up by the cloth. The "no fault alcohol" cleaner widely used in technical applications is isopropanol 99% also called isopropyl 99% usually also found in large drug stores in 500 ml bottles. It can be light misted with a small spray bottle and cleaned after a few seconds pause with a microfiber cloth. One thing it won't shift for some reason is dried grapefruit juice splatter. Cleaning stainless steel often calls for more than two different types of cleaner and several attempts at using them in different order to discover what works. Good cleaners in one situation that fail in another usually indicate an additional contaminant problem is present that must be dealt with first. A good example are the smudges sometimes left behind after trying to strip off protective plastic sheeting which decides to rip instead of lifting in one piece.

Weiman spray is available many places, including WalMart, Home Depot and Lowes. There are a selection of products at these places.

Ecover Automatic Dishwashing Powder (not the same as the tabs). We have used Ecover powder for many years in our Miele G848 dishwasher.

Ecover cleans at least as well as any dishwashing detergent that we ever have used, and it will not etch glassware, ever. Previous dishwasher detergents that we used (from the major "soap" companies) appeared to cause color patterns in porcelain to fade over time; we have yet to see any of that kind of fading with Ecover. We even occasionally put dishes with gold or silver plated edges in the dishwasher using Ecover, though we probably would not do that if we used those dishes frequently, even with Ecover.

The BEST SS cleaner by far is Sheila Shine. You'll have to order it, only some janitorial supply companies carry it but there's nothing better. I use the aerosol version.

As for dishwashing detergent cascade complete liquid detergent works well in my Miele, However a Miele guy told me they recommend powder now because they are finding it dissolves better. I'll be trying that soon.
