I changed ink cartridges, now printer won't print

This is not the first time I've changed the cartridges in this printer, but for some reason it won't print now.

It's an HP 7350 photo printer, and it's been problem-free for me until now. I turned it on this morning and replaced the cartridges, and then it printed out a calibration sheet. But I can't get it to print a photo. I've gone through the HP troubleshooting screens, but nothing works. It won't print from Notepad either.

Any ideas for me? Thanks!

I used the search engine located on the Forum's home page citing printer won't print. Among the responses there was a HP related thread dated April 21 with a similar concern On that thread I posted a protocol I found in hopes of helping that member. Unfortunately the member didn't post as to whether it helped or not. Hopefully it will for you.

I had a similar problem the other day. I had a document that
wouldn't print and was blocking other print jobs.
Go to the Control Panel - Open the Printer Icon -
Right click your Printer Icon and left click open.
See if you can delete or cancel all listed print selections.
I had one that wouldn't cancel until I restarted.
I have a different HP printer.

Credit to everyone who is trying to recycle their ink cartridges, but I still have concerns about these printers and their consumables. Ink jet printers are just plain hard on the budget and the environment, and the cartridges can't be refilled indefinitely, many only once and very few more than two or three times. Many applications don't really need an ink jet, I see lots of these printers being used in places where a laser or dot matrix would be much better suited to the job. Often people buy them because the initial printer cost is very low, frequently because it's heavily subsided by the expensive cartridges, sometimes the printer is sold for less than a full set of cartridges. However, when you consider the price of ink and special paper, it's multiple times cheaper to take your digital photographs or images to a shop and have them use their state of the art printer worth thousands to print them for you. No need to clutter up your house with another printer, no need to change cartridges or anything. Best of all it's not more work, you can either go out to the store to buy cartridges or you can go to the store to have your pictures printed. The only major difference is price and quality, both of which are better. Some places do it mail order or over the internet now, so you could have your prints sent to you. Of course some people do need a colour printer at home or in their office, there are genuine needs, but then it's fair to point out that the price of colour laser printers has dropped a lot now, and they're much better suited to high volume applications, but also don't dry up if not used for a while. They also work out much cheaper in the long term. Anyone who can justify their need for a high quality colour printer, for example a high volume of prints being made, can probably justify the initial expense of a colour laser as it will save them so much money in the long term.

Here's my latest attempt. Uninstalled the software everywhere I could find it. Did an Error Check and then a defrag. Rebooted. Downloaded the software again. Disconnected the printer and reconnected it accoriding to instructions on the Quck Start poster that came with my printer. After installation, I did a manual test page, which printed out fine. I made sure the printer is listed as the default. But when I tried yet again to print from a computer file, yet again nothing happened. If I had a cd, I don't now. That's strange because I have the cd for my scanner,which is older than my printer. I also have cd's that came with my first computer, years ago. But no printer cd. There is still an explanation in front of the Printer Port in the DM, and the printer is still not listed there. The link you gave, grandms, didn't help, unfortunately. I will go to the hp site to locate the live person when I have the time to devote to it. I've spent so much time on this, my RL is slipping, and I have to catch up. Thanks to everyone who has tried so hard to help me. If any more ideas occur to anyone, just post it. I'll be checking back here, as I always do. I love this site. Dee

I should probably tell you there is another printer attached to this computer, but it prints fine. Well now, perhaps the computer cannot access a USB printer and one using the LPT1 connection. Long time since I had an LPT1 connected printer, not sure if there is anything in the BIOS to affect this. Was the old video card separate or built into the mobo? You might try reversing that just to confirm whether it has any bearing on the printer. Seems odd but anything is possible I suppose. If the old card was built in did you make the changes in the BIOS to accept the new card?

Thanks, both of you. The print queue is empty. DA, I'll try your protocol tomorrow, as I have to be somewhere else this afternoon. Meanwhile, I'll ask my son if the problem could possibly be related to the new networking connection he set up recently.

I'm not familiar with your model of printer but here's one thing to try. I had a similar problem with my HP D1320 model. It was problem free but after changing the color cartridge it took forever to print one page (like 30 minutes). I used their online support and if I remember correctly I was told to hold in the on/off button and, while doing so, open and close the lid 3 or 4 times. That was supposed to "reset" the system. Ultimately we found my problem was that I needed to change my black cartridge --even though it was still half full of ink.

Yes many of the new ones have "expiration" dates on the cartridges and force you to change them even if they still have ink in them and they are fine so that very well could be your problem, try changing the other cartridge also and see if it works.

check the cartridges if you properly inserted it. it might not read the chip of the cartridge.

Solution: Remove the cartridge from your printer and place the nozzles on to a paper towel soaked in water or TIN nozzle cleaner.
