Kohler shower tile w/ rafter in the way - can it be done?

Has anyone installed a Kohler WaterTile showerhead (http://www.us.kohler.com/onlinecatalog/detail.jsp?item=11061002&section=2&category=8&subcategory=50)?. This is the kind that is installed fliush with the ceiling.

We'd like to install in a renovation, but find that the rafter runs right in the middle of the shower, and ideally where the showerhead would go. I imagine that this would be a common problem, as ceiling joists would be ~ 16" out from the wall.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out if it would be possible to install this showerhead with it spanning the joist, ie 2 nozzles on one side of the joist, and 2 nozzles on the other side. I believe the joist to be 2" wide (but haven't opened it up yet), and there is theoretically just over 2" between the leak shields on the nozzles. Plumbing can go up & over the joist.

Has anyone installed this in a reno, with a joist/rafter in the way? Ideas for solutions? I do not want to drop the ceiling down.

Thanks!
