I guess I wasn't thinking further west than Chicago as the news keeps saying the worst in Chicago's history.

Checking in here y'all. The Tulsa metro is basically at a stand still. We have broken all records here for the amount of snow. Downtown 14", airport 16', my burb 19", and we have 4' - 7' drifts everywhere. It's STILL snowing!! American Airlines shut down their mainetance facility for the first time in 65 years. Roof collapsed at on of the casinos. It will take us days to dig out from this mess. All of the turnpikes are closed and the freeways are impassable with stuck cars, plows, and emergency vehicles. They have called out the National Guard for help. We just don't have the equipment to deal with this much snow down here. Thankfully we don't have any power outages. I'm cool here but will have to get out and start shoveling..... I'll try to post a few pics later. Stay safe everyone!!!

Holy smokes, David, you got hammered, I'm sorry. Stay warm and stay safe, it'll be here in a couple of hours but our road crews are ready to go.

We did already have a roof on a local lumber company cave in, so I shovelled my roof yesterday, ready for another foot or two tonight...

Oh, wow, David, that's really bad. We got a bit of snow, mixed with sleet and ice. It's the cold that's messing with everyone here, though. The cold and the wind. We're just not used to it. I expect a lot of people will lose parts of their landscapes with this. There've been downed trees with the wind. We're going to be well below freezing for several days, which is very unusual for the Dallas area. The poor businesses that were counting on Superbowl goers will be hurt. But, none of this is as bad as you all further north and east. Hang in there! Glad to hear from you, David.

We are really lucky that we are in Florida during this storm. My daughter said that they think it is going to be as bad or worse than the storm we had in 1978. We were snowed in for 7 days before we could get out to go to a town to buy groceries.

My DH (Steve) loves the snow, so he is sad that he is going to miss this big storm.

I hope everyone will be safe who are in the path of this monster!

David, that's terrible. From what I hear on television Oklahoma City was hit hard also!

We just got about and inch or two of snow, but it is bitter cold and very windy! It was predicted that we would get a foot or more.
Earlier today it was 7 degrees and the windchill was -14, with the wind blowing 25-30 mph. Tonight is supposed to get down to 2 degrees!

David - so glad to hear you are safe. I would take the snow any day over the ice we are getting here near Philly though. Stay warm and safe and don;t over do the shoveling, The snow will wait for you!

We only got two inches of snow but the windchill was -31 this morning in Boulder, with an actual temp of -8. It is COLD here! Almost all schools closed in the 5 county metro area and many have already posted that they will be closed tomorrow. They are closed because of the bitter cold - the roads are not a problem at all. Max drove me to my cardiac rehab session because parking is too far from the hospital door, I didn't want to walk through the open parking garage and across the street to the hospital. He went to swim and then picked me up. Neither of us left the house the rest of the day. It did warm up to a high of 0, and I'm not sure what the windchill was when we hit the high.

It's supposed to be warmer by Thursday, 40 and very sunny. Last Friday it hit 70 in Boulder and was also a very sunny day. That's the Colorado front range - a twenty four hour change of 85 degrees isn't even all that unusual, but we all love it when we have warm and sunny winter days.

I hope everyone stays safe and warm and doesn't lose power.

Oh, my. Lee, that's really cold! I don't think I'd feel like swimming in this weather, even in an indoor pool. Just the thought of getting wet, then going outside into that kind of cold makes me feel even colder. Your DH is much braver than I am.

I was listening to a report on the radio this morning about parts of Dallas being without power, and then out went my power, just as they said that on the radio. When the power came back on about 15 - 30 minutes later, I went to watch the coverage on t.v. It turns out there's rolling blackouts across the state, because a couple of power plants have broken down. No one had any warning this was going to happen, even the power companies. Some people have been without power for hours, with temps in the low teens. They said the blackouts will continue all day, maybe even into tomorrow, with a low predicted tonight of 8 degrees. That's better than below zero, but it's dangerous for those without heat.

My DD, in San Antonio, called this morning because it is 20 degrees and she has no water or power. The water company said once the sun came out, it should melt the blockage in the outside water line! The power company is running rolling blackouts around the city and state to conserve electricity.

She's not having fun, but the kids are amused, so far. And it's supposed to snow tomorrow night down there.

We, in Baltimore, missed the terrible storm this time; too warm for ice and the snow headed up north. Thank goodness

I'm here in NW -IN and it's still snowin' and blowin'. No one is going anywhere. In fact, earlier this AM, they said all roads were closed in several counties around here. I just heard a snow plow go through - so maybe now you can can get out on the road. But, where are you going to go? Most everything is closed.

Chicago had many of their roads closed this AM. Many folks who got off early from work found themselves stranded in their cars from 3 pm yesterday to around 5:30 am Then they were rescued and their cars towed away one by one so Lake Shore Drive could be plowed. There were drifts between each car. It is now 11;20 am and LSD has not been opened to traffic yet and they are still experiencing white out conditions with all that blowing snow.

Definitely will be remembered as one of the worse.

Wow David & Lee. Brrrr. I do NOT envy y'all. They are predicting freezing rain tonight (rare) and snow on Friday (really rare) for us here in Houston. I say "really rare" but we've actually had snow here maybe four out of the past five years. That's more times than it snowed in the first 25 years of my life probably! It's crazy!

And yes, Sally. We're having rolling blackouts here too. I didn't realize it was across the states. My power went off at 630 this morning and came back on right at 7. I didn't know it was a rolling blackout till I got to work. The power went on JUST in time for me to be able to open my garage door electrically and not have to yank on the cord and pull up the door myself, thank goodness!

If it does snow here on Friday we'll probably get the day off... They're predicting 1-3 inches. You know, here in Houston, that's paralyzing! LOL. I know I know, that's nothing. But we simply aren't equipped for it, neither with machinery nor experience.

We had a low of -19 overnight and it was -12 at 7AM. But now the winds have died down, its sunny and we have warmed up to a balmy O� (or as Max would say No temperature at all). I just put a chuck roast, with potatoes, onion and carrots, in a slow cooker, trying a new recipe that adds no liquid. I still have some frozen broccoli and cauliflower so I can make dinner without going out.

A small section of Denver lost power yesterday but we did not. All the schools in the 5 county area are closed today except the Denver Public Schools. Every news station this morning said that the DPS twitter site had received thousands of protests because the schools were not closed and DPS issued a statement that it was not trying to preempt parental judgment on the safety of sending students out in the cold. Hmm!

Sally, Max warmed up the car yesterday, made a latte for me and coffee for himself in travel cups for the ride. He let me off at the hospital entrance and he was able to park within 20 feet of the rec center door, so neither of us was out in the cold for even a minute. I know how easy it is if you skip exercising once to find a reason not to go the next time, and the next, so unless I am really sick I go. And I feel it's really important for Max too, we keep each other going! Swimming is his exercise of choice - it would never be mine. I was the only one in the hospital workout gym when I arrived. In the hour and a half that I was there (30 minutes on the treadmill and 45 minutes in a cardiac and free weight and stretching class with an emphasis on breathing and some rest time in between)only two other people came to work on other machines. So I had a private exercise class! Usually there are about 12 people there when I go.

Today's high is forecast at 7� and Friday and Saturday at 46� all three days with full sun so that won't be bad. But another chance of cold and snow Saturday night and Sunday.

I watched the Chicago web cam that Pam linked, and it shows they are at 21� now, but with blowing snow. I can guarantee it's more comfortable outside here in the blazing sun, even though we are still at 0�.

I hope everyone stays safe and warm and has a good dinner planned. Along with that, my prayers are for an early spring!

Right now we still have wind and blowing snow, but the sun is shining. The plows just came through and I shovelled my roof and my driveway and a path for Cooper.

Yup, I had my exercise for the day, LOL. I made honey wheat bread last night with a pot of chili, today I have ground beef thawing so I can make Rocco's Mama's meatballs. It's cold, so I'm looking for a reason to turn the oven on!

I hope power is back on in Texas, sheesh, if it's not one thing, it's another, all over too.

Well the rolling blackouts are over, at least for now, they say. And snow is expected this afternoon. Hope everyone in the frozen north is doing OK!

My DD still has no water, the water line, from the street to the house, is frozen, she's hoping the sun may warm it up enough today to thaw the pipe. She says they are still threatening rolling blackouts in San Antonio, but so far so good and they have heat and light.

Her water line must be way too shallow. That's incredible that a water line in San Antonio would freeze! I must have missed reading that in your earlier post.

Well, we were supposed to get maybe an inch of snow over night last night. I woke up to what looks like around 3" to 4" of snow, and some areas around Dallas have up to 6" of snow. Now they're predicting a slight chance of snow on Sunday. If only the Superbowl was last week! This is crazy weather. (No, I know it's February, and it's supposed to be winter, but it's still not quite normal.)

I went into work yesterday, but only stayed a couple of hours. The store just wasn't heating up. It was 52 degrees inside the store. I could hardly type, and we weren't having many customers, so I just left. I don't know if I'll go in today or not. I went in yesterday because I had cabin fever. There's only so much of a pent up 3 year old this Grandma can handle!

Well we didn't get any snow here afterall. Sally, you must've gotten ours. We did get a lot of freezing rain and sleet overnight which created frozen streets. The radio said stay home if you don't have to travel and work said don't come in if you don't want to drive in it. So I'm working from home today.

I know it's February, and it's supposed to be winter, but it's still not quite normal .... Yup. Not normal. Not for THIS neck o' the woods anyway!!

It's bad when the Valley freezes over. My Mom grew up in Harlingen, and she didn't see snow till she was 19 years old.

They have water!! Now they can shower. She'll be keeping those faucets dripping for a few days.

I've lived in Maryland all my life, and even with terribly cold winters, never had a pipe freeze. But our walls are insulated and our water lines are a least 6 feet down. This sure caught her by surprise.

Ft. Sam Houston opened at 12:30, so I guess the city is getting back to normal.

I used to visit friends in the Rio Grande Valley every year (Mission), but they are no longer there. They only had small space heaters to keep warm when it got cold, and their gallery was very drafty. I would be concerned about crops in the Valley. I never saw snow until I was 11, and that was at my grandparents house in West Texas (between Fort Worth and Abilene). Our Dallas showroom is closed again for snow.

We had record-breaking cold here yesterday morning - 40 degrees, but fortunately there was no wind, and so we didn't have a wind chill. I've been wearing wool scarves and gloves, of course. It's warming up here now and should be near 80 tomorrow, and so I'm expecting that everyone else will get some of that warmth very soon. My father always told me that weather generally traveled from west to east - except when they would have an "Alberta Clipper". I should call my parents this evening to check up on them.

We're supposed to get above freezing today for the first time since it all started last Tuesday. It seems longer than that, lol!

I'm getting ready to head into work today, but I don't know if I'll even be able to unlock the gate. When the lock freezes, it's hard, if not impossible, to unlock. We'll see.

Storm of the century for our area. We broke every record on the books. My burb endedn up with 21 inches of snow. 15-20 through out the metro and NEOK up into MO. Our schools were closed all week here. They haven't made a call for tomorrow yet. They don't plow the neighborhood streets down here and they are terrible. They did/are using the fire trucks and other city trucks to drive through and knock down drifts and compact the snow so people can get out. Went to the store yesterday and there was lots of empty shelves. No eggs at all and most dairy was gone too. They did just get a truck of milk in earlier before I got there. Fresh produce was hit and miss. No salad and some fruits were unavailable the bread isle was completely empty.

Sally, I know you in Dallas have had your fair share too. I know it really has messed up SB week....so much lost revenue and some fans having a hard time just getting there.

I saw the mess in HOuston too May. The rolling blackouts are crazy and kind of scary too when you think about it....not enough power sources to keep things going.

Cathy, the lake area got slammed too. There are many docks both commercial and private that collapsed or sunk do to the weight of the snow. Early estimates are 40 plus million in damages on Grand Lake alone. Funny thing is the big boat show is going on this weekend.

I'm tired and sore from digging myself, family, and friends out the last few days. Other than that I'm fine. The bad thing is we are in for another storm on Tuesday/Wednesday. They are saying 6-10 inches this go around but not as much wind. Think Dallas will be in on this one too. To think it was 76 degrees here last weekend and I was trimming shrubs and cleaning out flower beds. LOL!!

Momj47, she might be wearing a coat and shorts, but she's cute as a button!

I'll take all my snow over ice any time. I can put the Jeep in 4 wheel drive and drive through snow up to my windows, but get 4 wheel drive on ice and all it means is that all 4 of your wheels are gonna slide.

Stay home if you can, and stay warm. Here we're all plowed and school was only closed for two days. We'll have snow every day for the next 5 or 6 days, but just a few inches per day, so that's not a problem at all.

Love your gazebo, David - did you build it yourself or did it come with the house? It does look more like Minnesota or Ontario than OK, however. It's warmer now in TX (according to DM) and so I hope you are thawing out by now.

Thanks Lars. Yes, it came with house. It has a ceiling fan, lights, and a couple of electric outlets in it. It has been great for parties, playing cards late at night and I had a DJ set up his stuff out there for a party. I also have used it for my smoker and grill when it's been raining.

We just got hit with more snow last night and today. They say we will be in the mid sixties by Monday and all of next week. That should take care of all of this carp...I'm so ready for spring and summer. This has been a record breaking winter for us. We usually don't get this much snow. When it does snow it is generally melted and gone in a day or two.

I almost moved to Southern CA 25 years ago....as of late I think I should have! LOL

Nah, David, Tulsa's much nicer than Southern California, and a whole lot less expensive to live. At least, that's what I've heard, not having lived in California nor Tulsa. I have been to Tulsa, and it's a very nice city.

Yikes, I've neglected checking this thread and just saw your photos-- I'm speechless! What a mess when an area is not accustomed to that kind of weather.I'm clueless, but with the rapid swing of temperatures, isn't there some issue with your pipes or the asphalt?
David, I love your patio furniture. The backs of your padded chairs are sharp and I like the dining set and gazebo too!

David, Mother Nature was so unkind! You expect to wake up to that kind of weather in NY but not Oklahoma. Hope you're warming up and thawing out!
