My in-laws have one... we're living at their house while ours is being remodeled. It is a nice unit. We've used a few of the pre-programmed recipes... they all have worked very well... especially the herbed whole chicken. Baked products work well also... muffins, scones, etc. Of course, as a microwave it is very good too. Oh... the defrost function is top-notch. We defrosted bone-in chicken breasts the other day perfectly... no whitish "rubbery" edges... just nicely defrosted chicken. We haven't tried the grill mode... I just can't bring myself to do it... the outdoor grill is just 20' away... I wouldn't want to ruin a steak. Some caveats... Make sure you wipe it down each time you roast something. My sister in-law, bless her, is a bit of a messy cook. The stainless interior of her unit has a caramelized film of old grease residue all over the interior... we can't figure out a way to clean it very well. The instructions say not to use a chemical cleaner... the "self-cleaning" mode (more of a Refresh Mode) doesn't do the job on this stuff. I've come to the conclusion that the best way to avoid it is to keep it clean in the first place. We ended up choosing the Advantium 240... we got a good deal on it, and I preferred the looks (will match our Monogram Fridge)... I'll post some comparisons once our house is up and running (2-3 months, hopefully).

YW, montanamaven. A former employee of mine lives in Gildford Montana, so we gotta take good care of Montana. Well, following my own advice, (alto I do have this speed oven and it's Op Manual, I downloaded the parts manual). So we saw "This Posted" " If your reg Elux oven didn't have a top element or a bottom element you'd have a conniption if they tried to sell it as a "real" oven. I didn't pass judgement in the response only pointed out Miele had it Elux/others don't." Well, not "TOTALLY Accurate". The Electrolux DOES (YES DOES) have a TOP heating element. It also has a SIDE heating element---but you are correct doesnt have one on the bottom (I dont miss it as the side and top elements heat the thing plenty fast). Anyway, not pointing fingers, or telling anybody they were wrong etc etc, Just pointing out, that if we don't do our research "FIRST", before posting, then we are not gonna be as much help to folks that post questions---Don't ya think?? Let's see for example. (1) The Electrolux Speed oven Runs off 120 Volts not 230 WRONG (2) The Electrolux Speed oven does not have heaters below or above--Partially WRONG It does have a top heater, not a bottom heater but uses a side heater instead. (3) The Electrolux is not a real oven,---WRONG or PARTIALLY WRONG--- It can't bake and broil.---Partially wrong (broil??????)WRONG ABOUT NOT BAKING-- Done a ton of baking, as now we see it has both top and side elements (I wont talk about broil as I haven't tried it and the top burner does have a cover over it with holes, those of you that read the AJMadison reviews found, that according to the folks there, the oven bakes very nicely--some even said it bakes better than a regular oven---hmmmmm---where have we seen that said before??(Miele)??? I must admit, that finding the actual burner locations(top and sides) was a bit of a pain as I had to actually download the parts manual to find them-but butt butttt, I haven't really read the operators manual "TOTALLY and Complete"--of If I did my CRS kicked in an I forgot what I read. Anyway, I hope we set the record staight as to what the Electrolux Speed oven is or Ain't!!! by the way, It is on special here for $1699 + free shipping and a free 10 year warranty (regular price of a 10 year warranty is $49 for it---You Miele folks may wanna check the price of a 10 year warranty on the Miele Speed oven. I've had the Same Elux Speed oven for over 4 years now. About 6 months ago, the handle did start coming loose. I downloaded the parts manual for it and I saw the 2 screws were under the front cover. I was gonna fix it but DW says "You have nuff to do--call somebody to fix it" So I did, it took the guy 15 minutes at the most to remove the front cover, He added lock washers to the screws and it has been fine since then. This is our most used appliance, we even used it to boil water, etc when our "Fancy cooktop" took a dump and went to the dump (not an Elux). I use it to make toast, bake potatoes, roast turkey legs, as well as the usual MW duties. We have been very happy with it, and as far as "we're" concerned, there is not a better one made. Yep the Miele will broil and the elux won't but we have never even used our full size Elux Oven for Broiling or its predassor either. We do our grilling & broiling outside, and as some folks have mentioned, You just can't beat one of those infrared broilers and we have that on our BBQ. We did see a complaint about popping corn in a speed oven, I'm not sure it was an Elux speed oven, the problem was resolved (wasn't the speed oven as I recall)--but I can't find that post for ya now. I don't ever recall seeing a problem with the Elux Speed Oven, other than your post so I would not be too hasty to "write it off". So, while I respect my "Dear Desert Friend's" advice, not sure I would "Throw in the towel" just cause He says so! Gary

Don't like the knob? That's funny. I love the knob. It almost always does what I expect it to. I hit the quick microwave button: 30 seconds on the time and it turns on. I can flick the knob to add or subtract time on the clock any time before it finishes. (Peek inside. "5" "4" Hmm, not bubbling yet. Spin knob. "3" "4,5,6,7,8,9,10" "9" "8") So handy! I'm making grilled cheese sandwiches (which the Advantium does perfectly), Press "speedcook." spin dial to "sandwiches" and push dial to select. Spin to "cheese" and press. Spin to "1-2 sandwiches" and press. Press one last time to start. Easy, obvious, and soooo much better that poking at those gawdawful membrane buttons that most machines use. Set the timer? Press the 'timer" button. Spin knob to number of minutes, and press. Spin knob for seconds. Press. I can flick the edge of the knob and zing! I've got 40+ seconds dialed in, in a flash. Holding down an "up" button and waiting for the seconds to count up is awful by comparison.
