Miele oven and speed oven or Electrolux?
Comments (5)I have had the Miele Speed oven and 30 inch Master Chef for about 10 months. Love the Speed Oven and have had the temperature problem with the Master Chef. It took two visits from the repair folks and replacement of a $500 mother board (covered by the warranty), but the Master Chef oven seems to be working well now. Actual oven temperature is now spot on to the setting (before it was 30-50 degree low). While the oven was clearly defective, I do note that there is a learning process to using the Miele. Coming from a gas oven with bake and broil as the only options, it took me a while to realize and learn that "bake" on the Miele only really works for 375 and lower applications and the "surround" setting is used for higher temperatures. If looks are important, I also note that the two ovens are beautiful together....See MoreMiele Chef Speed Oven or Monogram 27' 120 Advantium?
Comments (7)sayde, I know that you are going down the same path as I for the past few months. I will be using my Miele speed oven exactly the same, under the counter. I will also keep 30 inch all gas 10 year old Viking in the kitchen. I ruled out the Electrolux speed oven because it cannot be mounted under counter. I looked at KA MW convection oven and Advantium. I felt that the oven features in both were not nearly as compelling for me as the Miele. The price difference was not that much with the Chef Oven (the Master Chef was more, as you know) The clincher in the appliance selection for me was the "look". I want really flush mounted appliances. I don't want anything to stick out 1/2 inch to 1 inch from the adjacent cabinets. I am spending a fortune on my modern slab cabinets with grain matching veneer. I really want that sleek look. Unfortunately, American appliances do not deliever that look. I am not sure why they can't make it happen, but they don't... I am keeping my 10 year old Viking because it is cobalt blue and I love the color. The Viking will stock out a bit. Oh well. I was very tempted to replace it with an induction top and an Euro oven for the look and "increased" functionality. (5 to 8K price difference stopped me!) I decided to put the money into the integrated frig. I am getting Thermador freedom column for the look..... If you are not sure what the integrated look is, go look at the Miele web site. All of their appliances are at exactly the same front level as the adjacent cabinets. They don't stick out at all. Between the appliance and the cabinet is only 1/16 to 1/8 inch space, as would be any well hung frameless cabinets should be. If you panel the Miele DW or frig, you would never know that anything is behind it. Hope this helps....See MoreWall oven help! Advantium + Wolf vs. Electrolux??
Comments (15)acgu - just use some common sense and it works How long do you want to cook an item - remember it takes a lot less time than a standard oven - I cooked 2 giant potatoes (over a pound each) in 9 minutes flat and they were absolutely wonderful Do you need the top browned and how much - if you want a lot of browning - you increase the number and less if it is going to be in the oven for a long time Do you need heat from the bottom - be sure to use an oven safe dish that is not metal (although you need to use the metal tray.. Do you want to speed up the cooking - add the MW - I usually use a number of 2-4 if I am speed cooking Do you want convection - move the air around a bit. Then push start and ready to go. Have I had any failure - yup - one massive scalloped potato - forgot I was only cooking half a recipe and used a small corning dish - and it overflowed and had really dark edges - then my DH started nibbling the dark edges and thought they were great. Have fun!!...See MoreSpeed Ovens--would you buy GE Advantium or Electrolux Icon?
Comments (4)There is a new Advantium 240 --it is larger and has convection. They call it 4 ovens in one -- speed, MW or conventional convection bake or broil. It will hold a 9 x 13 pan and rotate it on a 16 inch carousel. I am thinking this could even be our primary oven as it is just for the two of us and we do messy big things on the green egg anyway. Any thoughts about that?...See Moreathensmomof3
