newdev.dll 1% is not an active Win32 file

Before Christmas, for some reason I had to reinstall my all-in -one printer. When I reinstalled it the printer would not work anymore. My DH bought me a new one even though I told him it was not the printer but anyway, it doesn't work either. Every time I plug the printer up I keep getting a pop up with the above error. It comes up over and over where I will have to sometime delete 50 or more of them if it's left plugged in all day. Can someone PLEASE help me get my printer back and restore my sanity? Thank you for any help in advance.

If you have a new printer and did the install of the software following your owner manual and are having this problem you need to contact the manufacturer and find out if they have a solution, it could be you need a new or different driver or it could be you have some corrupt files in your pc or registry. With a printer always be sure you do the install in the specific order they tell you to.
You can try going to the manufacturer site look for your model then see if you can do a search there for that error you might find a solution there.

Might also try running the System File Checker - it will check, verify, and replace any busted windows files. Some can run it , some not.

From the run line off the start button popup menu... type, or copy & paste;
SFC /ScanNow

give it a few minutes to do its checking. Tiny message box with the gradual completion bar.

I would run 1 more additional scan it's an online scan run it when you get time. This scanner requires Internet Explorer, reason it will ask to install an active x let it... 1. wait are you saying you are running two active antivirus programs at the same time on your pc? IF so that is not advised it can cause major conflicts and is recommended to fully remove one or only use the second as an on demand scanner but even that can cause problems. I would go to the file that was found and submit it to virus total to see if it hits with any of the scanners there. Virustotal when you ran malwarebytes did you fully update it prior to running a full scan?

Interesting enough, computer was fine until I tried to open Photoshop C3. Like last week, it gets stuck on MMXCore Routines when opening. Tried uninstalling it last week, but apparently it didn't happen. Thought maybe it would open since computer was running okay now. Computer crashed. I typed newdev.dll 1% is not an active Win32 file into Google; first 2 hits had a solution. Same solution.

Both used RegCure Registry Scanner which magically fixt it.

Well I sort of thought the hype about RegCure looked a bit contrived - suspected it might have been self serving so I messed around with it some and..

You have to buy RegCure - I didn't see that right off. I tried it and it found 487 problems of which it fixt 3; the rest if it got registered. They haven't sent the KEY yet. Maybe you get one free run, ie one free fix w/o money.

I ran Abexo and got 33 errors which I left. I ran RegSeeker (Same outfit ?) which got 115 errors which I eliminated. I re-ran Abexo and got 11 errors which I eliminated. I reran RegCure and got 473 errors. I reran Regseeker and got 6 errors which I eliminated. I re-re ran RegCure and got 477 errors which remain unfixt.

What a crock!

The mind boggles. For sure the RegCure ran way faster than tuthers. Perhaps it would be worth the money vs buying another printer but I spect it would be a gamble.

Perhaps RegCure ran faster because it never actually tested anything? These 'come ons' only want money, they tell you there are large numbers of errors to scare the bejabbers about of nervous computer users.

yikes yet another registry cleaner that promises you world peace on a golden platter!! Geeze man what a crock indeed.
And if you do use them and let them delete what they want hope to high heaven you don't end up with a computer that is now a door stop because it hosed the thing.
Step away from the reg cleaners LOL

When I got my new HP all in one I installed exactly as directed but kept getting an error message I went to HP site and did a search and found that was a common error message and it required a different install cd so they sent me out the new cd and all was well.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. I've already "bought" Max Reg Cleaner for $30 and it didn't help at all. I think you're right, it's a hype.

Another thing is that this started with my HP that I had already so it isn't the PC and probably isn't the CD either although it could be.

I tried running the SFC /ScanNow and it started but then said that it couldn't run it all. It said that I have to insert my XP Home Edition CD and I don't have one. It was loaded when I got it and they didn't give me a copy.

I'm pretty sure it's a corrupted file but haven't been able to find any info on how to repair it.

I'll keep trying and thank everyone for the help. If you think of anything else I'd appreciate it.

Think I'd go to Services and Stop the Print Spooler if its started and set it to manual or disabled then unplug the printers usb cord ... uninstall the printer then After about hour or more shut down for a while.

Then in a few days try installing it again folioing the printer install instructions.

Xp sometimes would do delays configurations here - strange stuff with hardware drivers several days after the install.
Vista Microsoft say has an Hour's window before it updates configuration changes.

And there's sometimes some magic with hardware when you power down for a while and that hardware is not starting up at boots. Disappears from dmi after some period of time , then windows reenumerates it fully & clean at a future use or install.
