Change from OE to Thunderbird

My neighbor wants to change his email from OE to Thunderbird. I use Tbird, but have for so long I don't recall the process. Is there an easy step-by-step way to do this?

All I know is that he has XP, and Firefox.

I googled and most info assumed you had 7, or were just updating to a newer version.

Is there a way?

Install TB, and then set up the e-mail account(s). It was easy. I also deleted the icon for OE in the Quick Launch and replaced it with a TB icon.

His OE address book can be imported easily to TBird too, and there is no need to remove his account, nor the address book out of OE. He just needs to add the account to Tbird and it will work from either of them, depending upon which he likes the best. I have both on here, and whichever one, I happen to click on is the one I use at that time. Doesnt matter much to me, as I like them both.

To save your images to My pictures if the image is inserted into the email simply right click on each and then 'save as...' A window will appear and by default should point to your My pictures folder. Either click to save or change the name first and save but do not change the suffix (jpg or bmp or whatever) If your images come attached simply right click on one in the space below the address bar where you will see them listed and then save as.... or save all if there are more than one and you want them all. Right click on the star just above this post and you will get the idea.

I have been using the Thunderbird email for over a month now I use the email client every day to download my email from the Road Runner site because of all the flashing ads on Road Runner when I would go there to read my email. I hated the ads because they continuously flashed over and over. It was very irritating. So I started using Thunderbird over a year ago and kept it updated as it improved.

Yep, erased the saved PW2 and tried to send an email, was offered a chance to inter PW1 and the transmission of the email went. Checking Options/security I don't find PW1 saved, I may need to click on "save password" on the next use. Thanks, this comphelp has been helpful as always.

Thank you so much! I kept doing searches on-line with no luck because I didn't know what I was looking for. I messed with a bunch of stuff in OE but again, I didn't know what I was looking for! I have just spent too much time reading up on things and trying to figure out a virus last week. I need a break from the computer! LOL I knew someone would know what I was talking about here. I sent my neighbor an email with all this info so he will have it to look at and go back to when he needs it.
