Dave, anything I can do to get the plants a little less leggy? also, I think they are indeterminates, which doesn't that mean they grow 6-10 feet? Not unless you can get them a great deal more sun exposure. ;) Like I said, you just have to work with what is available to you and it is likely too late now to resolve the problem now. If you are going to transplant them into larger containers then planting them as deeply as possible will help some and allow new roots to develop all along the buried stem. But without adequate direct sun exposure they will just stretch out again. Yes, both those varieties are indetermintes so they will get quite tall but that isn't what leads to being leggy if that is what you mean? Leggy plants have very long slender runs of stem between the growth nodes and branches. So with the weaker stems you'll need to support them well. A tall steak that you can tie the plant stems off to at about 1 foot intervals will help support the weight of the fruit. Good luck. Dave

First, congrats on building your new house! Very exciting. My MW drawer isn't in our island so no picture, but in addition to the electrical question I'm wondering: It looks in your picture like the island counter has an overhang of several inches on all 4 sides (can't tell for sure) and a corbel in the center of each side. Where were you planning on placing the MW? Under the corbel? That seems awfully low. Or were you thinking of having 2 corbels on either side of the MW space? That would make sense to me so it could be higher, but you wouldn't want much overhang above it. So my preference would be sink side, centered between 2 corbels, with only a standard counter overhang. For an under-counter MW, I really like having a drawer, so you can place and retrieve items from above. (That's personal preference though.) natevalsmom - beautiful kitchen! Also regarding your layout, can you provide more info? Sounds like you knocked out some walls to make one room, but I'm having difficulty visualizing what was where. Can you elaborate and were the walls removed load bearing? I ask because we have a similar situation. Kitchen with a nook to one side that's all windows and both seperated from the family room by a half wall at the sink and "behind" the kitchen a seperate small dining room we never use. I'd love a more open floorplan and great room effect like yours, but we have lots of structural issues and still trying to decide if it's doable.
