I have bought many appliances at the Sears Outlet stores. I always choose the ones labeled NEW meaning it was opened or cosmetically damaged. My Jenn Air french door fridge was listed at $1600 due to a tiny black mark on the top of the door. It retailed for $3200. Within 2 weeks of getting it home, my kids scratched it anyhow so the black mark is barely noticable. I think it is a great place to get refrigerators, washers, dryers and basic ranges. They have probably 150 each of refrigerators and washing machines at any time. They tend to only have a dozen dishwashers. Occasionally you may luck out and get a pro style appliance there too like my sister did. I have in the past been impressed with Sears warranty policies however, it has been a few years since I have bought any appliances so things may have changed. You have to go often if you are looking for a particular model. If you are looking for a particular item, the salespeople may take your name and call you if one comes in. As far as warranties go...it is just like buying it at Sears. If you don't want to deal with a broken machine, just make sure you buy one that was not used. The labels are very informative and tell you the history of the appliance. Good luck

yeah, I'm going to call Mohawk and ask. We could have them replace the boards, because there are some other spots that were damaged during flooring installation and they have to do those spots anyway. vickyw-it was a lot of searching for those slabs. And a lot of luck. taggie, that's what I tell my dh. There will be other dings. At least it isn't a gouge. marcolo--not really sure. We installed the fridge. we dinged the floor. I'm sure we can point it out during punch list and get it fixed. We are not really supposed to do any "work" on the house ourselves even though we own the land and the house. (long story) The builder was supposed to install the fridge but I was getting a little impatient with it sitting in the middle of my family room and no one was showing up. I also have an 87# 42" vent hood sitting in my breakfast room that they are supposed to install. We will not go rogue on that one. They have now waited so long that the counters are in, the rangetop with its 24" high shelf is now installed. They are making it more and more difficult on themselves. It's sort of funny, the job supervisor will show up, see the fridge installed and just assume one of his guys came and did it. That's how it went down with the chandy over the island. We wanted it in before the stone was installed. The electrician couldn't it done in time. We asked the electrician if he minded if a friend of ours who is an electrician stepped in and did that for us. He didn't care. Then the super showed up on the day of rock installation, saw the light and said "oh good, they got it in"....

Hi Pie! I am sorry to know that all is not as you had visualized. All I can offer is to say don't be discouraged! I am sure it will be wonderful. We built a significant addition to this house 12 years ago (2 storey 28 x 32) and I remember thinking exactly the same way...oh no...this is not nearly large enough! Well, of course, for us it is. Our home is now 4200 sq ft...for 2 people...that's ok! We are not finished our kitchen reno yet. The cabinet maker lives an hour away from us and does not like to drive in winter weather ...that makes life difficult. However, he is absolutely fabulous at matching new stain to existing cabinets so that is why I have stayed with him. I fired our K.D. in early November...that is a long story and I should have done so weeks previous. We are no farther along than the last posting. Our tile man "Sonny" will be coming the end of the week to do the backsplash. Our cabinet maker should be here also at the end of the week. So, fingers crossed...it will all be done in the next week or so Hooray! I will definitely subit some photos

A & E is technically Sears. Whirlpool and Sears are principal owners. Any service facility is a crap shoot. I also disagree extended warranties are scams, I have used them and find them well worth the investment. My kid had his 2700 Samsung refrigerator replaced from Best Buy at 3 years. And the biggest caveat is just because someone offers local service on a particularly brand, does not mean they are a factory warranty agent. If there not, there's no service or at least factory reimbursable! Yellow pages is full of them. You really have to do what your comfortable doing. Don't like big boxes then buy local. Don't like warranties, don't get them. BUT somewhere down the road there will be consequences for the choices you make, either favorable or not.
