Printer for ancient Macs

I have a SE & SE30. Both have files I would like to print (if they work - thatÃ¯Â¿Â½s rather iffy), but I donÃ¯Â¿Â½t know what printer to look for. Color isnÃ¢ÂÂt necessary. Suggestions would be appreciated, as well as how to get things hooked up. Thanks!

I'm not sure you can still get supplies for it, but there are lots of old Apple Laserwriters still kicking around.

I would just copy any files you need onto a floppy and sneakernet them to a floppy attached to your regular computer. If you don't have a usb floppy drive kicking around, find one on ebay.

I guess my memory is shot, but back to your original idea of a hookup, I see that your se was probably running system 6.02 and I believe that is what we all used in our office that had a shared network connected to an HP Laser Printer (tons of them around; one on my desk). I suppose the network was an AppleTalk, and I would guess that went to the SCSI port on the se, but I don't remember, and I guess I didn't really understand it then. But some of these fuzzy thoughts might jog someone else into helping you connect a little network.

Mike, Thank you so much! In the book, The Missing Manual, it just said all I had to do was move the printer to the trash basket in the dock.It said there was no "uninstall" program for the MAC. But your instructions to hit the "-" did the trick! I am so grateful! But when I go to File in Numbers, there is no "page set up", and none under any of the other headings either. I just can't believe that something as elementary as switching between landscape and portrait is so obscure on a MAC. I have some simple spreadsheets that I am certain would print on one page in landscape. It was so easy to do on a PC! Again, thank you.

I guess you get what you pay for. I agree that the ESP3's haven't been getting good reports, but I have an ESP7 that I think the world of. I have an Epson Photo R260, a HP Deskjet 882, and an HP Photosmart 7350, and don't see much, if any, difference in the quality of the print from one to the other. I have never really counted the number of prints with any of the printers, but feel the Kodak is fairly close to what they advertise. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've had nothing but good experience with this printer. Also, the ink is different than what is used in other printers and is not supposed to fade as fast. The only thing I don't like about it is it is noisy. I have the printer wired into a wireless router and run up to four computers into it. Never had any problems so far.

Here is a link about OpenOffice. I don't have good enough excel experience to be an advocate for the OO program. I love the concept of this project; professionals and users creating software for free (you can contribute toward costs), improving it as needed, and distributing for free to everyone - just for the public good, no profits involved. I hadn't heard of it until this last fall, but it's been around for over a decade. It is an org. and not a .com! http://about.openoffice.org/index.html Here is a list of features on their most recent release. Natal, I don't think I have "Pages".
