plug ins folder

This is a first for me. I have two mini tool bars on my task bar, one holds my games another tools. I just noticed at the bottom of my tools there is a plug in folder. It is the tall list, the short list on the right is my tools. I did not put it there. why did it attach itself there. Should I leave it there or get rid of it.

Maybe you should right click and properties and see who it belongs to ?

I don't know what you mean, "who it belongs to". It's got the usual stuff in it, location, size, etc..

I dunno new psp ... My old PsP I can remember a mess, by taking the plug-in's folder and copy/moving it to another drive .. then somewhere within PsP are settings to give it the path to the new location. Of course I somehow screwed it up by naming the folder with or without out a plural s or left out the dash or something simple that paint shop wouldnt see , but once I figured out what I had done, suddenly I had two of each plugin until I deleted the original location. Sounds like your configurations for that path has screwed up somehow, or perhaps the starting folder was slightly renamed. Maybe reconfigure it ? or just move all the plugins to a new location and point it there. Unless its changed in newer versions the plug in folders require matching the original naming convention.

Mark - The reason the installation specs indicate where the gas and electrical connections must be placed, is so that the gas line and electrical plug will have the clearance needed to allow the range can be pushed up against the wall. If the gas and electrical connections aren't down close to the floor, you won't be able to position the range properly. With the outlet down next to the floor, a recessed outlet shouldn't be necessary. I'd recommend using a plug, which will simplify disconnecting the range if needed for service. You can probably purchase one from your appliance dealer or your electrician, but you might save a few bucks if you buy one yourself from Home Depot or Lowes. They're not terribly expensive, probably in the $15 to $25 range. Just be sure to buy one with the proper rating and pin configuration. Your electrician can advise you on what you need.

Dar, The problem is, you have this path... C:\pspStuff\Texturizer\filter It needs to be this path... C:\pspStuff Mine is C:\PSPStuff\PlugIns because I have another sub folder there. And I don't have the 3rd box checked...Limit loaded plug-in files... But that's not the reason this isn't working. It's your path. When I said in my inst. "So the path to one of my folders and one of the files in it is this..."C:\PSP Stuff\PlugIns\Xenofex\Xenofex .exe" That was just to show you where one is. What I said in the next line in my above inst. was how you enable the path. That was this... Find the path to where you created your new plugin /filter FOLDER. Highlight it and then click OK at the box. Don't forget to close and re-open psp for the filters to take effect. About the .exe question. Most plug-in filters don't come with an executable file (.exe). If they do, then double click on it to install it, and make SURE that you direct it to install to the folder you want it in. Just read all the boxes carefully as they pop up before clicking next. But most don't have an exe file. You just extract the zip file to the folder it's in and that's it, as long as you have that folder enabled in psp. And about having one filter in your psp plug-in folder. That's okay. A few there won't hurt. But if you want to move it, just copy and paste them all to the new folder, then delete it out of the psp folder AFTER you paste it in the new one. Dar, yes, you can make a folder called fsb flux and move them into that folder. If you move a few in that don't belong it won't matter, they will show, it's just that if you wanted to find them you wouldn't know where to look. When you are going to download a filter, go to your plug-in folder and make a new folder, then download into that folder. You can name it before, or, after you download, just right click and choose rename. Joy

Mikie is suggesting you right click on that folder then click Propertied, the bottom choice. Clicking through the tabs on the new window will tell you which program it belongs to.

Unless you are sure it might be unwise to remove it. It appears like it may be the parent of the list on the left of it. Lots of Dynamic Link Libraries there to protect.

I see no name on the folder properties except under location and it's my name. I checked properties on a couple of the items (dlls) in the folder and nothing makes sense to me. The tool and games list are just shortcuts has been there a couple of years, the plug ins folder just suddenly appear in the last day or two. Wonder why???

The plugins folder is full of dll files so you are probably right. I will save the folder in case I need them and make up a new list of shortcuts.

The folder next to it is game shortcuts and I clicked on a couple and they would not play. The message said:

The program can't start because XLayout.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
___________

When I made a new shortcut it works.

Historically anything on the Desktop or Start Menu is just a pointer to a file or folder; albeit data or .exe.

Dave, I know but was curious about this showing up after so long. I did down load Irfanview plugs in, could they all be for irfanview? If that is so where would they have gone if I had not had a folder there.

I checked properties in a few of them and they are all for Irfanview. I downloaded them when a message came up saying I needed plug ins.

My recollection is they install directly into the Irfanview folder.

You could test your .dll theory by removing the Irfanview associations that you have set. It's easy to do and then once again reconfigure to your preferences.

Yes those are Irfanview plugins, I just checked my install. 62 items in my /Plugins folder.

Dave it still works but I am sure it will ask again to download them when I try to do certain things.

Owbist, I just checked in program files and irfanview with a plugins folder is in there, only a few plugins. I got rid of the ones in my tools and when I need them I will download them and see where they go this time. I had a program files shortcut in my tools folder so maybe that is why it was sent there.
