Neel help installing plug ins/filters

I have a new computer using Windows 7 which I hate. I have

Paint Shop Pro which I use all the time. When all my stuff was transferred over from the old computer most of my plug in/filters do not work. This is the message I am given. What can I do?

Error:Access is denied. Cannot create C:\Program Files, etc.

Administrative privileges may be required.

The size of the equipment really tells you what kind of electric is needed. I assume we're not talking about giant pond, so the UV would under 50 watts, maybe way under. A pump, say around 4000 GPH might be 350-400 watts. LED lights don't use very many watts unless you're adding a ton. A regular household electric line is 15 amps which means about 1500 watts can be drawn thru it before the breaker trips. You'd probably be way under that. You also have the option to run a little thicker wire so you can draw 2000 watts before the breaker trips, so more things could be hooked up. That all depends on whether the wire being run is from an existing wire, like a current outdoor outlet, or the new wire goes all the way back to the electric panel (where the breakers are, "new circuit"). When extending a circuit you have to consider all the items plugged into all the outlets on that circuit. I have one house where both bath outlets are on the same 15 amp circuit as all the outdoor outlets, and also the bath lights (1978 house) so all are protected by a single GFI. Today's hair dryers are 1500 watts so that circuit is maxed out just by a single hair dryer...with the lights off. The number of outlets is pretty cheap and easy to add. One box with 4 plugs vs 2 is like maybe $10 difference in parts if that, tiny bit more labor if any. Also easy to add more outlets later. What's expensive is running the conduit and wire. That's what you want to get right. A good electrician will look at how many outlets are already on the circuit before deciding whether it can be extended. Code limits the number of outlets each type of circuit (15 & 20 amp). That's a little misleading because the number of outlets doesn't actually mean anything, only what is plugged in. For example plugging tuning on two 1500 watt hair dryers will trip 15 or 20 amp circuit. But code had to draw the line some place going by normal use. They didn't want builders to make houses with every outlet in a house on a single 15 amp circuit because that's misleading. People really into ponds and lots of fish will run at least 2 new circuits. Pump is plugged into one and maybe air pump in another. If one circuit trips...and they do...the other would keep water moving and fish alive. In most normal type Water Gardens that isn't needed imo, but that's your choice to make. GFIs do fail sometimes. Like maybe 25% of the time in the first 5 years, at least that's been my experience for Water Gardens. Meaning they trip off and won't come one on, or trip a lot. If you run 2 circuits you only have to move the pump to the other circuit and you're running again. The tripped/broken breaker is safe so no be hurry to get it fixed. So 2 circuits have some other advantages. Even the smallest conduit can support at least 2 circuits, so that shouldn't be an issue, although labor for running a second circuit later kind be a lot.. For a new circuit there's a question of whether your panel has openings for 1 or 2 new circuits. If that's good the cost is for the extra wire and an extra breaker. Wire isn't dirt cheap, but the labor should be a ton more for 2 circuits. Really just depends on your desires and budget.

well you have to download it to your pc, then close all of your browser windows completely shutting down all instances of firefox, then go to the download and double click to begin the install, follow wizard. to see the plugins you have in your firefox browser open a firefox browser window, in the url box type about:plugins and hit enter, it will give you a list of all current plugins and their state. A really good free little program by Secunia will tell you if any of the programs and such are up to date or if there are newer versions, it is very helpful to keep things updated. Did you just do a FF upgrade to a new version? If so , was it beta3? Be aware not all plugins work with a new version. If not, this would be a time that I would suggest an overwrite of FF as there is nothing to lose. If that doesn't resolve the concern download and overwrite the appropriate plugins, again nothing to lose. Please back up your Bookmarks before you tinker any farther. DA

Here's what you need to do in Firefox to make this particular web site work, To play Windows Media in Firefox, you need the Windows Media Player browser plugin installed. Need to make sure that you install 64-bit plugins if you're using 64bit windows 7.

What version Paint Shop Pro did you install?

I have a new computer using Windows 7 which I hate.

Those were my exact words when I had to use it on my new laptop computer. After you get accustomed to it, you will like it but it takes time. There are so many nice features you will use that like I, when I go back to my desktop XP Pro, I miss.

Urlee, when I click on an icon (shortcut) it takes sometimes a minute before it opens...what causes that? I thought Windows 7 was supposed to be so fast.

How can I find out if a plug-in is a 64 bit?

Forgot to tell you I have PSP 7,8,10 and 12. I prefer to use 10.

Does 10(X) work with Win7 64bit operating system?

I read where 9 works but after that person updated it, it wouldn't work so I installed PSP9 and didn't update it even tho I prefer 7. I am trying to find my way around with it. Happy to have any PSP to work on here.
I haven't looked into the plugins/filters etc. as I do the task part on my desktop computer. Just having PSP on here to do resizing and minimal changing works fine with me.

you might ask at the forums for that product, it will have to be a version that is built to work with windows 7 64 bit or you will have problems.

from some googling I did find this
Paint Shop Pro x2 is fully compatible with Windows 7 64bit

I also found this where someone has had success by using this method.

you may want to look at this also in the list it does mention paint shop pro.

PSP8 ALWAYS had a crash problem on my WinXP as did with the other gals so I took it off and went with 9 but still kept using PSP7 even tho I have PSP9 & PSPX on here.
Will have to try PSP7 on my laptop to see if that will work?

On account of your post, I just installed PSP7 on my Win7 64 bit laptop. I read awhile back that it wouldn't work for here but it does too! At least for what I use it for. Will try it later on other options to see.
It doesn't even knock Aero off like PSP9 does.
PSP9 does a lot more than 7 but formatted different from 7 which I don't like as well.
THANKS again otherwise I wouldn't have even tried it based upon what I read B4 I ordered my laptop for fear the Jasc programs would not work. JASC IS THE BEST until the take over of Corel which screwed that program up.

I used to have one of the Jasc PSP programs on my windows xp machine long time ago it was a nice program, I knew Corel had taken it over but was not aware it had gone downhill so sorry to hear that but that seems to be the case so many times when someone takes over a great program then decides they know how to make it "better".

I ran across what someone else said to that extent today but can't find it.
Found this snip which describes it as such too:

It has become apparent to me that Corel has lost focus on what made Paint Shop Pro popular to begin with. It appears they are obsessed with developing and marketing useless bloatware to novice users, instead of focusing on improving the functionality of the full editor. Why is there a full editor mode now anyway? What happened to just Paint Shop Pro? Paint Shop Pro's primary function is now so skewed that our user interface needs multiple tabs to distinguish which program you are using. I sometimes wonder how great Paint Shop Pro would have been if Jasc was still developing the software? As with many other small startups Jasc was successful because they thrived on innovation, not multi-million dollar marketing hype.

My issues have not be resolved. I have contacted Dell, last week and have not heard back. I should have gotten an email within 24 hours.

What is so irritating is to click on a shortcut and it take forever for it to open. What is the problem here. Is it normal for Windows 7?

I posted a message on the Plug-in Site and haven't gotten a reply..

Thank you Ravencajun!!!!!! I went to the Plug-in site and was told to downloaded the Plug-in Commander. I did and my plug-ins began working immediately. I did absolutely nothing but download it. I can't thank you enough.

Now if I can find out why it takes my shortcuts so long to respond to my clicking on them I will be one happy 'ole lady.
