Neel help installing plug ins/filters

I have a new computer using Windows 7 which I hate. I have

Paint Shop Pro which I use all the time. When all my stuff was transferred over from the old computer most of my plug in/filters do not work. This is the message I am given. What can I do?

Error:Access is denied. Cannot create C:\Program Files, etc.

Administrative privileges may be required.

try right clicking and run as administrator

I can pull the ballast and bulb out of the filter and it still does it. The filter is upright with the ballast up high and there is no water in the glass chamber....I checked and the ballast isn't wet. Unless my ballast is screwing up....its a dam near brand new unit. I originally flickered 5-6 time then went to full power and worked with the GFCI......now it blinks once and light sup full then trips the breaker.. You got me...

Ahh, you did cite the model in your first post above, apologies for overlooking it. Some of the diagrams I find are of poor quality, and LG parts can be tricky to identify correctly as they sometimes change the design of this or that from one sub-version of a model to another, or substitute a different P/N for something that has gone out-of-production (which doesn't mean the substitution won't work). This seems to be the Filter Bypass Plug P/N ABN73019101. Does the photo match what you have? This P/N ADQ36011715 or P/N MDJ62165101 come up as a couple choices for the Filter Head, into which the filter or the bypass plug mounts. The 2nd item includes a bypass plug per the photo, and also substitutes for a P/N ADQ36011708. Searching model LMX28988ST/100 at lgparts.com doesn't find a direct match. Leaving off the /100 finds six matches for [/nothing], /01, /02, /04, /05, and /06 ... but not /100. LG sub-coding can sometimes be mysterious. parts.sears.com finds /00, /01, and /06 and has better-quality diagrams. The filter housing parts are on the Case Parts diagram. You might need to compare the referenced filter parts for the various sub-models to check which may be common to all.

Did you just do a FF upgrade to a new version? If so , was it beta3? Be aware not all plugins work with a new version. If not, this would be a time that I would suggest an overwrite of FF as there is nothing to lose. If that doesn't resolve the concern download and overwrite the appropriate plugins, again nothing to lose. Please back up your Bookmarks before you tinker any farther. DA

Here's what you need to do in Firefox to make this particular web site work, To play Windows Media in Firefox, you need the Windows Media Player browser plugin installed. There are two different versions: The original, which is usually included with Windows up until XP. The new version, specifically developed for Windows XP and above, which is only available by download. Note: Even if you already have Windows Media Player installed, you may still be missing the plugin required to play back Windows Media audio and video embedded in web pages. You will need to go into About: config and change a value to true, as instructed on the link I have provided. My Firefox would not work on the web page either. Need to make sure that you install 64-bit plugins if you're using 64bit windows 7.

What version Paint Shop Pro did you install?

I have a new computer using Windows 7 which I hate.

Those were my exact words when I had to use it on my new laptop computer. After you get accustomed to it, you will like it but it takes time. There are so many nice features you will use that like I, when I go back to my desktop XP Pro, I miss.

Urlee, when I click on an icon (shortcut) it takes sometimes a minute before it opens...what causes that? I thought Windows 7 was supposed to be so fast.

How can I find out if a plug-in is a 64 bit?

Forgot to tell you I have PSP 7,8,10 and 12. I prefer to use 10.

Does 10(X) work with Win7 64bit operating system?

I read where 9 works but after that person updated it, it wouldn't work so I installed PSP9 and didn't update it even tho I prefer 7. I am trying to find my way around with it. Happy to have any PSP to work on here.
I haven't looked into the plugins/filters etc. as I do the task part on my desktop computer. Just having PSP on here to do resizing and minimal changing works fine with me.

you might ask at the forums for that product, it will have to be a version that is built to work with windows 7 64 bit or you will have problems.

from some googling I did find this
Paint Shop Pro x2 is fully compatible with Windows 7 64bit

I also found this where someone has had success by using this method.

Once I moved the .dll files to the SysWow64 folder instead my plugins started working in PSP 9. I am still in the process of installing and transfering all my PSP things but I know it worked for at least 6 of my plugins so far."

you may want to look at this also in the list it does mention paint shop pro.

read this info on this forum there are some that are having luck getting some older versions to run and discuss it.

PSP8 ALWAYS had a crash problem on my WinXP as did with the other gals so I took it off and went with 9 but still kept using PSP7 even tho I have PSP9 & PSPX on here.
Will have to try PSP7 on my laptop to see if that will work?

On account of your post, I just installed PSP7 on my Win7 64 bit laptop. I read awhile back that it wouldn't work for here but it does too! At least for what I use it for. Will try it later on other options to see.
It doesn't even knock Aero off like PSP9 does.
PSP9 does a lot more than 7 but formatted different from 7 which I don't like as well.
THANKS again otherwise I wouldn't have even tried it based upon what I read B4 I ordered my laptop for fear the Jasc programs would not work. JASC IS THE BEST until the take over of Corel which screwed that program up.

you are very welcome I am glad it helped you out and I hope it will also help out arosegirl.

I used to have one of the Jasc PSP programs on my windows xp machine long time ago it was a nice program, I knew Corel had taken it over but was not aware it had gone downhill so sorry to hear that but that seems to be the case so many times when someone takes over a great program then decides they know how to make it "better".

That's exactly what happened.
I ran across what someone else said to that extent today but can't find it.
Found this snip which describes it as such too:

It has become apparent to me that Corel has lost focus on what made Paint Shop Pro popular to begin with. It appears they are obsessed with developing and marketing useless bloatware to novice users, instead of focusing on improving the functionality of the full editor. Why is there a full editor mode now anyway? What happened to just Paint Shop Pro? Paint Shop Pro's primary function is now so skewed that our user interface needs multiple tabs to distinguish which program you are using. I sometimes wonder how great Paint Shop Pro would have been if Jasc was still developing the software? As with many other small startups Jasc was successful because they thrived on innovation, not multi-million dollar marketing hype.

My issues have not be resolved. I have contacted Dell, last week and have not heard back. I should have gotten an email within 24 hours.

What is so irritating is to click on a shortcut and it take forever for it to open. What is the problem here. Is it normal for Windows 7?

I posted a message on the Plug-in Site and haven't gotten a reply..

Thank you Ravencajun!!!!!! I went to the Plug-in site and was told to downloaded the Plug-in Commander. I did and my plug-ins began working immediately. I did absolutely nothing but download it. I can't thank you enough.

Now if I can find out why it takes my shortcuts so long to respond to my clicking on them I will be one happy 'ole lady.
