Jean, I'll be 67 in August, never imagined you were older. I don't know if my back problems are severe, but they are definitely slowing me down, am supposed to go to therapy. I struggled to plant some things in pretty big pots which was all I could manage plus 6 bare root roses, last year 2 cherry trees twice because the first ones died in the freeze. I used to work in computers, but these home computers are a whole 'nuther animal, and I try not to mess with anything I don't absolutely have to or want some new software really badly because too much can go wrong fast no matter what they say. I had a setback with my back just hauling my printer (big) home from the shop and hooking it up again where things are really tight under my table. I don't know about calibrating monitors either because I don't want to. Since I got on the net in 97, I'm on my second one, set them all up myself, wasn't into the hardware end of things, and I've learned to do graphics and can do more than someone who majored in it, but I got burned out on it. Then I took up photography seriously, always had a camera, my father got me a film one with the mysterious numbers. I also set them on auto until I discovered a photography forum. They taught me everything I know to the point I've won money on some of my photos but am too old to go professional (plus couldn't take the stress of it), but there is still much to learn and practice. Now with my revived interest in gardening, I've not been able to get out and take many photos, don't mind really. So don't feel bad. I didn't know squat most of my life about cameras. The best of it is I've been able to help and encourage my gdaughter with hers, and she has a long life ahead of her and is thinking of going professional. For college graduation I bought her a better camera than I have, newer model, and it was bandied about why didn't I take the new one and give her mine. I'm happy with mine, that's why. The only thing better about hers is that it has a huge screen. But it takes 10 mp photos, and I don't want them that big, don't have enough memory right now. So it goes. I don't know about patents on lilies, but that one is so striking you could try to propagate enough to sell them. I read a post on here last year where a girl did that and sold them out of the back of her pickup, people snapped them up like crazy, and she made $800, don't know how many plants. Then she lost the mother plant. I hope she was able to find a suitable replacement. Some plants are so unique you can't really replace them. So many have the same name and don't look the same at all, same with roses. I'd better quit bugging you with my chatter. I only pick a few threads here and there that interest me, can't keep up with too many and don't alway chatter so much.

Hi everyone hope you had a Happy Easter! I have received one block from Linda. I have not received blocks from Christy and Cindy yet. I got to go view a large display of handmade quilts near Forest Hill, Louisiana, I think it might have been called Longleaf, Louisiana? yesterday - any way they had a beautiful display of quilts in preparation for the Heritage Festival this coming Saturday. So wish I had not forgotten my camera. Gave me lots of great ideas for future quilts. They had a beautiful pink and creme/white log cabin quilt - these were all large quilts, they had one with lighthouse blocks like 2ft x 3 ft blocks, and my favorite was one with flower baskets made of triangles and with flowers appliques coming out of the baskets - one even had a blue shrimp plant in bloom - was just too cool! And they were all local quilts. Is nice to know there are other quilters in central Louisiana. I have not met anyone in my small community who quilts. They have a quilting guild several towns away, but have not had time to go, maybe one of these days. Are any of you in quilting guilds? Best to you, Sandra

oceanna, Two words: reciprocating saw. :-) Move as much as you can into another room, cover everything else with dropcloths and/or old sheets, and have at it. We've had to take furniture out in pieces a few times. About 10 years ago we had an enormously-heavy sleeper loveseat from the 60s that DH and his two brothers somehow bent the space-time continuum to get up into our third-floor apartment (top floor of a mid-1800s three-flat), but there was NO way it was getting back down. We disassembled it with a crowbar and hammer and hucked the pieces out the window, which really confused the downstairs neighbors. :-) It was a pity that we had to render it unusable for someone else when I would rather have put it out on the curb as we lived in a very poor neighborhood and it would have been snatched up in a matter of minutes even in its worn-out state, but it had become pretty much unusable for us too and the apartment was far too small to blow that much space on something that couldn't be used - the living room was just barely big enough for one full-size futon couch (moved in and out disassembled), one chair, and a tv stand! That was it! Anyway, if you detach the plywood-box section from the headboard (and footboard if there is one), it is more likely that the headboard(/footboard) could be removed intact and reusable - if you post them on Craigslist, just specify that they are extremely heavy so people should be prepared to bring along help. Cut the plywood into smaller sections that can be moved, although a circular saw would probably be easier for that part. If you/your son aren't up to doing this yourself, hiring a handyman (through Craigslist? heehee) to do the cutting-up and lugging shouldn't be too awfully expensive especially if you don't go through one of those dreadful overpriced franchises. You'll have some cleaning to do in the bedroom but it's better than being stuck with furniture items you no longer like and cannot get rid of. I do know what you mean, BTW. Two houses ago we had a very large master bedroom (or at least very large to me, small compared to some folks'!) and purchased secondhand a 6 piece bedroom set, all pretty large pieces, which fit the room quite nicely. I got quite bored with the matchy-matchy thing and when we moved it did not fit at all into the new house's smaller bedrooms and couldn't really be divided up between rooms. A Craigslister got a nice bargain, since we just needed to get rid of these things that were crowding us out.
