"My car" and "his car".

We were just discussing this the other day. Whenever we've added a newer car, I get it. So DH is looking to trade the old CRV (used to be "my car" now "his car") for a Lexus RX. He's afraid I'll take it over. I told him he could rest assured it can be "his car" because my Lexus is fairly new and I'm happy with it. Plus, we can drive "his car" together on weekends, LOL.

We have "the van" the mommy car~the Jetta..the daddies car and the old Ford Ranger...it's the only one my name is on..lol and all it does is sit in the yard...it's still waiting for my teen son to get his "stuff" together...I mean hello...a vehicle that's been sitting there waiting for you...I would have loved to have a "car" waiting for me when I turned 16...(at this rate HE MAY BE DRIVING ON HIS OWN BY HIS 17th..but I'm not holding my breathe.)
I was raised in a Mom only household..so that was one car..I would get up early, take her to work, drive to school and then pick her up...when I was done with school, or she'd get a ride from a co worker home if I had an after school activity...but that wasn't every day...even when I was a Senior..I didn't drive to school everyday...most kids didn't!

I call it my car. Very creative, huh? We used to have a car named Chuck. It was an old 1952 Buick. My XH's grandmother named the car. We called it Chug, because basically -- it did. She was hard of hearing and thought we were saying Chuck, so the name stuck.

When we had a few cars, we pretty much called them by whoever owned it or by the make of the car.

My Subaru Forrester is "Zippy", DH's Mercedes is "Vito" and our dog van is unnamed. Love this thread!

I just call mine "The Jeep". The girls keep threatening to get me that bumper sticker that says "My Jeep is not an SUV and your SUV is NOT a Jeep". LOL

Before The Jeep I had a full sized Dodge conversion van. It was named Bertha.

OHHH!! The new guy in my life is my car that I got last September... This is Bernard!

My other car is known as "the Big Truck". Dually 1 ton extended cab Chevy.... so I have a split car personality and go from huge to little.

Then there is "The Old Gray Mare" or the "little truck" which is an old gray Chevy truck which started as Joe's truck, then all 4 boys got it in turn over the years. Every piece of sheet metal on the truck has been replaced because of wrecks and fender benders except the roof!! Not sure if we could ever sell it so we keep it around!

Joe has "the Tahoe" ....white Tahoes are everywhere!!!

The Mazda, the Hyundai and the Van. Used to be the Mazda and the Falcon.
The Falcon was DH's business vehicle, and since it was generally loaded up with his tools I only drove it if I needed a bigger vehicle for collecting stuff in the city. I was always a bit edgy about driving it as it was fairly large and I found it harder to park with my poor depth perception. The Mazda was my car except when DH drove it to work, as he works in the next town and it was more economical to drive than the bigger Falcon.
Then the Mazda started fading and it seemed like every time I took it to the city something would go wrong and require a call to the RAC (our AA). So we got the Hyundai thinking the Mazda would soon have something go wrong that wasn't worth repairing, but we still drive it around this area and DH takes it to work. A year later it's still going, though a little tired.
The Van replaced the Falcon as DH's business vehicle. I haven't driven it yet as no need to- the Hyundai is mostly mine all mine :-)

Grace, I love the picture of your MINI. My next car will be a MINI, which hopefully will be in the very near future. What makes Bernard a ''he''? (Is it because Bernard likes to go fast?) I can totally relate to the smile on your face!

"The car" or sometimes "the Subaru" for the Subaru Outback. Hubby's car is known as either "the Mitsu" or "Zippy". It's a Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Your car and my car or the GS & the RX! They're both Lexus's and although they're different models (GS & RX). We used to have two the same color, but now my new one is different. Gina, I love my RX, I'm on my second one!

We have 2 Volvos by the names of Bertha and Flash, named by my grandson. And then there is 'The Toy', SO's convertible that only comes out on warm sunny days.

I had decided on Bernard's name while waiting for him, but others wait til they meet in person to check out the sex and name it. Only car I've ever ordered where they encourage you to call and check on the status, ask you it's name when you call and give you an official birthday when it leaves the plant. Bernard even sent me a postcard from the boat to the US!! Crazy!

Every one seems to relate to the whole Mini personality thing! Love, love, love this little car, I'd wanted one for years and then when the Clubman came out I knew I had to get one. Joe is 6'7 and is comfortable in it!

DH has an 2006 Dodge Ram 4x4 affectionately known as "The Beast". I need a ladder to get into it & a parachute to exit! It hauls lots of boat equipment & gardening stuff. It gets 12 mpg highway (yikes!). The thing is black w/lots of chrome, racks, tool boxes, electronics, & other macho stuff. It won't fit in the parking garages & we have to use commercial license plates. DH loves it. I drove it ONCE & scared myself silly.

DH's main car (and the one that saved his life back in September in the accident on I-84) is a 2008 Acura MDX. I'm so grateful he was driving this car that I practically bow down to it in the driveway! It's name is "Pocket Rocket".

Me? I drive a 2004 Honda Odyssey Touring. It's loaded with creature comforts & is the car we use for extended driving trips. I intend to keep it until the wheels fall off. It's name is "The Bus".

I drive a "green Subaru wagon." Never thought of naming it, but all my sewing machines have names!

Our old Ford Escort, which is small and green is called "The Booger Stomper". My ex-Dh called it that one time and it stuck. I took the car with me.

Our PT Cruiser is called "Petey".

I'm jealous of those with a Subaru. My last car was a WRX and I loved it. I miss my little red Subaru. *sigh*

We call the old Dodge Durango "Big Blue". Cause it's Big. And Blue. And almost dead with 200,000+ miles on it. None of the locks work anymore, it needs a good 10 minute warm up in cold weather and there are a few pieces missing, but it's a workhorse. I may change the name to "Old Yeller". Or "Old Blue Yeller". I'm thinking we may have to shoot it in the near future.

The Jeep is "the Jeep". Or as Lulu calls it "the Jeepy Jeep". I wanted another Subaru, but DH came home with a Jeep. For the first few weeks, he tried to convince me that it was really a new model Subaru, with Jeep written all over it. And a soft top. And removeable doors. Kept saying "just kind of squint when you look at it, it's the same car."

I may be gullible, but I'm not THAT gullible.

Until 2007, we always had Mazdas, so had to call them by color or make. The silver car, the silver car, the Miata. Now it's the Miata, leftover from before or the truck. But it's not a truck. He just doesn't want to admit he drives an SUV, since that would make him, in his estimation, one of those drivers. It's an Isuzu Rodeo. All of our friends have an SUV for kid reasons, so I don't get what he's thinking! I'm planning on buying another car late this year that'll be a four door sedan of some sort. I need a car that'll hold more than two people for various reasons. I love love love the Miata, but it's time to put it up and drive it only on the weekends. It's almost 19 years old. I call my elderly silver Volvo the "Vintage Volvo." I called the old white mini van "Behemoth." I don't think I named any other cars. Alice calls her new car "Rover" for now.

Now I remember more. I had a Plymouth Sundance years ago that was navy blue. I called it "The Blue Rocket." I had a VW Squareback a few cars before that a guy I dated called "The Hippy Wagon."

I don't name my vehicles, but I once worked with a guy who named his car "Lorraine". Not sure why, but it seemed to fit.

While I love the Subaru, I never wanted it in the first place!

Prior to the Subaru, we had hubby's Eclipse and my minivan. Two years ago in December, he had had enough of chaining the van up to go up Mount Hood twice weekly (he and the boys are avid skiiers). So, he researched and decided he wanted the Subaru.

However, you'll note that somewhere along the way I managed to lose MY minivan while he managed to keep his Eclipse AND get the Subaru. I'm still not sure how that worked out.

I really do love driving it around town, but I really miss the space and extra seating of the minivan, particularly when we're making our regular treks up and down I-5.
