You should seriously consider using Teamviewer to help with your sister. I use this to take control or just watch while the owner does things, I also communicate via Skype so they know what I am doing and why. Brilliant free program.

For her to see the Edit, Bookmarks etc tell her to click the orange Firefox icon in the top left corner and it will drop down.

Thank you owbist, I was on that site for Adblock Plus but I wasn't sure if it was meant for Windows 8.1. Will this particular Adblock Plus work for all Windows OS including Windows 8.1?

I have 8.1 and see no difficulties with Adblock Plus.

It's the same Firefox for all versions of Windows. To 'show' the menu items, have her right click in the toolbar at the top of Firefox and click Menu Bar.

She now has Firefox on both of her computers and we did it by phone. "Smiles" Thank you so much for your help. BTW: I emailed the link to Firefox so she could download it. I also did the same with Adblock Plus so she could download that as well.

Hey DA you frightened the living daylights out of me.

Never thought about updating Adblock but on inspection I find it did it yesterday automatically. Not that we should ever presume things get done without checking occasionally.

You made me chuckle. I know you know this, but for readers:

FF can be configured to manually or automatically update add-ons. The portal is Tools>Add-Ons. Clicking on Add-Ons produces the Add-On Manager window. In the upper right corner area is the universal settings icon (a geared wheel). Click on the icon. On the appearing drop down menu select the user desire.

On the same drop down menu a user can click on Check for Updates. That should show the update for ABP

When I go to Tools>Add-ons I do not see Tools for Add-ons. So I went to the Adblock plus sign and there is nothing there that tells me anything about Manual or Automatic Updates.

Another thing I just noticed is that I don't have the current update, do I have to go to the site and download it? Which site is the best? Oh yes I have the 0.9 version. I didn't know that because I didn't install Firefox the guys did when I had this computer built. Please send me the safest link to download the current version of Adblock Plus. Thank you.

Now how do I find the current version of ABP, I found it once and now I can't find it. Ugh! Also is there a way to get it to automatically update? This is for DA I am not excluding anyone else though. I don't know why I couldn't find what you posted DA. I got to part of it in the beginning but the last part I couldn't find. ???????

Is there any particular reason you're suggesting firefox to her? It's the least secure of the 4 major browsers.

DA, I found it and clicked on the update and it said No updates found. So I guess I'm good to go. It also had the check mark in automatically update. To let you know I understood the last directions. "LOL"
