David, how you doing down there in OK? From the news we are getting looks like another carpy ice storm is coming your way. You know you actually get way worse weather there than we get here in Ontario. Whats with that?

Sharon, I was thinking about our buddy too when I saw what was headed his way. I hope he doesn't have to deal with downed trees like he did two winters ago.

It was on our news last night too!! David-- we're thinking good thoughts for you and yours to get through this with as little damage a possible.

I have some little ones who try to grab the big pellets before the big fish get them, and sometimes succeed racing away with this big thing in their mouths - problem is they're too big to swallow so eventually the big fish gets them in the end. Very cute - enjoy your babies, they grow up too fast dont they!

Smile. It really is paradise but it is a lot of work. I wish I had about 1/3 of it would be plenty to maintain. I think about how to downsize all the time but the work to downsize is so much work I keep plodding along. I am really happy with those violets!! Heck I bought them at Walmart and repotted them into the larger blue and white pots using African violet potting mix. I water them about weekly making a best effort to dump in the pot not on the leaves and usually put a couple drops of that violet food you pick up and just drop in. I think a lot of it is getting them in the right place. They are really happy on that table where they get indirect but a lot of light. They have quit blooming a couple times for a few weeks but come out again in glory. I love them....so old fashioned.

Nicki, nothing stays the same. Nothing at all. Everything is constantly undergoing change. First of all, you have got to clear your mind. Stop drinking or using anything for a crutch. Sit quietly and think about the person you want to be. Think about the steps you need to make to be that person. Start small. You have little girls and their minds are like a sponge. Find something you can teach them. Their appreciation and joy in new things will help you. Set aside time every day for them and some for yourself, but don't spend a lot of time worrying about whether other people like you or not, or hanging with people who will bring you down. Don't "party"...whatever that means. If you have to make new friends...then be on the look out for some that are the kind of people you want to be around. Take part in your daughters' activities at school, when work permits. If anyone brings you down...or is a bad influence on you...cut them loose. I had to do that, myself, in order to be at peace. There are always people who have nothing to do but sit around and drink and stir up trouble. I know you are a very pretty girl. I've seen your pictures. There is nothing attractive about a woman who drinks too much. You don't want your children to grow up and remember you as an alcoholic. It's a waste of precious time and money. Nicki, you can change, but you have to start taking care of yourself, and that means putting you and the girls first. It takes a little strength to do that, but it gets easier all the time.

Thanks for the suggestion mama_goose. Unfortunately, all those together won't fit in the wall or would be visible outside the wall. I think I'm going to contact a sheet metal fabricator this week about building something custom for me. I saw a dryer vent at lowes today like this http://mobile.appliancezone.com/ShowProduct.aspx?ID=27&gclid=Cj0KEQjw2v2sBRCazKGu3tSFz64BEiQAKIE1hrUqGkCzH9CteW0uzwboZ0V4dncYi52xzIoiJIx5WSIaApw48P8HAQ and I think something like this would work fine. Just build it where I could cut the bottom of the ducting off and slide it over. The hole would likely have to be offset, but if they're fabricating it, I'm sure we could get it to work.

We got up this morning to rain that turned into freezing rain, sleet and then snow. Our electricity went out this morning for about 3 hours and then again this afternoon for about 3 hours. It is not snowing or blowing as much now but everything is covered in ice. It wouldn't surprise me if we loose power again.

David, looks like you are getting it now. Good luck and stay warm.

Yeah, David, I hope all is well where you are. We're just south of the freezing rain, so we're just getting cold rain. I hate cold rain, but it beats an ice storm any day.

Hey Sharon and all! Thanks for checking in on me and this crazy weather....AGAIN. LOL

I've had some challenges with my router and internet connection so I'm just now able to get back on line. That would be after several hours of frustration trying to get it and my network working again with help from a friend via the phone. Yes, I'm high tech challenged in a big way!

Doing okay here for the most part. We lucked out here in my area and didn't get as much ice as they did west of here. Still some ice but no major power problems for the most part. I think we received about 1/4 inch of ice. I know there about 65,000 without power west and south of us last night. Much better than the 07 strom when we had 650,000 plus homes without power.

Right now it is snowing like crazy. We were only suppose to get a couple of inches but now they say anywhere from 4 to 8 inches. I just measured and we have a good six inches on the ground(on top of the ice/sleet) and it suppose to keep up for several more hours.

Trixie, I sure hope you keep your power on for the rest of the weekend.

Alexa, hope your family down in OKC are doing okay.

For those of you east of me I hope y'all are doing okay too. I know there is Tracey in TN and Teresa in NC and it's headed your way. Who else??? Check in here and let us know how you are doing.

Thanks again for checking on me! I may be moving farther south if we keep getting winters like this. LOL

Time to go knock snow of my shrubs, bushes, and the pine trees. They are really weighted down with snow.

I guess this isn't a good time to tell you that the crocus and the snow drops are in bloom here.

David, I am glad you are ok. I thought you might have got hit.
The ice is our problem. Everyone 2 miles east of town here and I know to Altus are out of power and not sure when it will be restored. We have a friend in Hollis, he lives in the country and thought it would probably be a week before they had power. He had a generator installed yesterday and I think two or three families are staying with them until this is resolved.
I am thankful that we have electricity and hope it continues and hope it is all restored quickly.

LOL Ann! Rub it in pal... I can take it. I know you are not a big fan of snow and one of the few here that don't mind the heat of summer either. Waiting for spring and that good ole summer sunshine.

Trixie, I'm so glad you still have power. I remember going without for 11 days up at the lake and then I think it was five or six days in the 07 storm. Not fun at all!

A big thanks to all of the road crews and electric crews out there doing what needs to be done. 12 hour shifts in the cold and snow....
