I hate my new Bosch DW. It does NOT clean dishes
Comments (41)I assume that this problem was resolved since this is an old posting. However for those like myself who also had the same trouble and hated Bosch; I found a solution. The spray arms are poorly designed and the tiny holes clog over time. Unscrew the "nut" attaching each of the spray arms and use an ice pick or something small to unclog the holes along the arms. You will have to tilt the arm back and forth and shake out all the particles through the center connection hole in order to clean it out. Run water through it to be sure it is clear and shake it until there is no sound and the holes are clear. Re-attach to the machine and you will have sparkling dishes again. I cursed the darned dishwasher for weeks until I learned this!...See MoreBosch D/W handle piece cracked off-anyone else??
Comments (46)Amazing what you can find on the internet. I have the SAME exact problem with my dishwasher. Only, it is isn't Bosch it is GE. Handle has plastic endcaps, which of course after owning it only a few months, first started to crack and then just crumbled. GE came to replace it under warranty. It was not so easy to replace, he had to take the door apart. I said there is no way it will last. He said it will, he has never heard of this problem. How can you make a piece like that out of plastic? Well, it has been a few months, I took a look and sure enough, it has started to develop a crack again. I got an extended warranty on it because of this. I am sure I will be using it plenty of times. Who designs these things???...See More4 year old Bosch DW bites the dust!
Comments (33)Wow, that is really sad. IMHO, any DW, regardless of cost, should last longer than that. Hopefully much longer than that! About 10 years ago when my (never-very-good, bottom-dollar) GE DW bit the dust, I did a lot of research before buying another. CR reported a Kenmore Ultra Wash Tall Tub, made by Whirlpool, as being a Best Buy. My DW had gone kaput right before the holidays (another huge pain, as I do a lot of cooking and baking from November - December), but I waited until January (maybe early February) to buy, partly because I didn't want to use Christmas money on a DW and partly because I was hoping for a great buy. As it turned out, I found the very model CR recommended, on sale at a big discount. IIRC, it cost about $400. DH and I bought it on the spot, and it has been absolutely the best DW I've ever owned. I never have to prewash anything -- not even prescrape if I don't feel like it. Everything comes out spotless, from glassware to pots and pans. I especially appreciate the internal water heater and moveable/removable/divided/covered silverware baskets. I hope it lives forever. :-)...See MoreAnyone have a smelly dishwasher?
Comments (20)My dishwasher has a "rotten" smell every couple of months. I've found that gunky stuff gathers on the inside front at the base of the door. I take paper towels and clean it off and the smell is gone. I think it's just food and grease that doesn't wash away and builds up there after a while. It's pretty disgusting slimy stuff and it smells worse while I'm cleaning it, but cleaning takes care of the problem. Dishwasher Magic probably dissolves this stuff and does the same thing I'm doing manually. But I have a septic system and try not to put anymore chemicals down the drain than necessary. BTW, I have a KitchenAid that's a couple of years old....See MoreSusan Stephens
