I don't know if the core of what I have been trying to say is clear, or not. But Bill did hit on a different way of saying it. Once a long time ago, there was no such thing as an anti-afterfire fuel solenoid on any brand of outdoor power. Back in those days, everybody's outdoor power engines might pop if you shut them down without a short cool down idle period. Some engines and applications did not pop as much as others, due to different configurations of the exhaust muffler or length of exhaust pipe. Then suddenly, back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the anti-afterfire solenoids began to appear. So, the only way to solve your problem is to have a true professional, well experienced, small engine technician/mechanic evaluate your old tractor and tell you whether or not the tractor ever has an anti-afterfire solenoid on it. If you can remember a time when it did not pop when you shut it down, there may be hope that there is something faulty with an existing solenoid. But if the tractor never was equipped with the anti-afterfire solenoid valve system in the first place, then you are going to have to spend some money to have it retrofitted to behave like a modern tractor. It's kind of like if you want a 1935 Chevrolet with air conditioning on it, you are going to have to pay someone to put it on there because they did not have air conditioned cars back then.

thanks, I know about the power button, but was trying to avoid that. I wanted to shut down some windows before hitting the power button. My husband was trying to back up some pics and plugged in a Maxtor One-Touch and it killed the mouse, (wireless). In an attempt to shut down Adobe Photoshop, he was using arrows and enter keys and had so many things open, and couldn't close them. By the time I got to the computer, he had IE, Firefox and AOL all running, Task Manager, My Computer, Adobe Photoshop, msconfig, etc,etc. I couldn't shut any of them down except to Power Off. I was hoping there was a way to shut down processes with the keyboard. I was worried about his pictures. But I had to hit the power button anyway. What a mess and now the mouse is dead. Don't know what happened. Jane

Unfortunately my sudden refusal to shutdown, seems to be quite regular. I click "Turn Off From the Start Menu" We get to the windows is now (closing)shutting down screen, the jingle plays...and we are not on nor off. Its Microsoft limbo hell. Mouse control has shut down. Can I delete .Net Framework 2.2 without hell to pay? My gut feeling is my problems are stemming from .net or the Merc board. The Merc board once shut down my Morrowind game and cancelled the tilde key assignment. Even Bethesda Softworks said there was nothing I could do. Ideazon support told me to upgrade my all keyboard drivers to hid, and that (unknowingly) knocked out the PS2 keyboard drivers used by the laser mouse assignments...it wasn't until I redownloaded the laser mouse drivers, did everything start to work. I can now cheat on my game to my hearts' content. (The tilde key brings up a game console where dirty little cheaters, like me, can enter codes to cheat.) This driver install and uninstall freeze with this crappy keyboard, that I'm stuck with to save money, is going to break me. It might have caused some problems. I had to reboot my computer from the default settings in bios. Although there was a warning on the Microsoft update site about one of .net updates rendering some computers unresponsive? Well! gee. I CANNOT DO A SYSTEM RESTORE! I tried a few different restore points...and honest to Pete!...I got this message saying the system hadn't changed so they weren't going to bother, there wasn't any point!? I mean, I never!!! What the????

Hi christophern, Out of curiosity could you post this, Download WhoCrashed See link below for whocrashed. This program checks for any drivers which may have been causing your computer to crash.... Click on the file you just downloaded and run it. 1 Put a tick in Accept then click on Next. 2 Put a tick in the Don't create a start menu folder then click Next 3 Put a tick in Create a Desktop Icon. then click on Install and make sure there is a tick in Launch Whocrashed before clicking Finish. Click Analyze It will want to download the Debugger and install it Say Yes WhoCrashed will create report but you have to scroll down to see it. Copy and paste it into your next reply.
