A new grandchild is coming.

At Christmas our youngest son and his girlfriend informed us that will be going to the Justice of the Peace in Key West in March and getting married. Then they told us that she is expecting their second child sometime around Aug 14( the daddy's birthday) and they are hoping it will be a girl. I will be busy in the next few months working on baby blankets and such. Can you tell I am excited? They have a little boy who will turn 4 on June 14( multiples of the number 7 run in our family for birthdays, not planned, just happen that way) He has a first cousin who will turn 9 on March 4. I need a grand daughter to balance out the rough and tumble boys.

Congratulations! I know how excited you are, I am expecting my first grandchild in May!

My shopping habits have chenged dramatically! I went to Target today to look at buffet servers and came home with 4 new little girl outfits! Thats it....nothing else.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for a girl for you!

I cannot tell you what varieties do best in that area, but make sure you pick the correct trees. Some figs will sour, and split in the rainy, cooler climates, or not ripen properly. My daughter gave birth to our second grand-daughter this past August. Her first daughter was 2 1/2 years old. My daughter was having a C-section, it had been pre-arranged. Makayla understood her Momma was going to the hospital and the doctor was going to take the new baby out of her Momma's belly. Jenny, my daughter had made up her mind that Makayla was going to stay overnight at her day care the first night of this hospital stay and not stay with us. Not a good night for Makayla, nor the next day. She wasn't a happy child till she stayed with us. Makayla loves to stay with us and we'd happily have kept her but as you know I was only the Grandma and what did I know according to my daughter. Everything was great after Makayla was with us and she loved going to see her Momma and new sister Cassidy, provided Grandma and Grandpa took her to the hospital. The kids really can understand more than they are given credit for....Makayla understood a great deal about this new baby in her Momma's tummy....just a couple of funnies about it though...near the due date one afternoon Makayla asked her Momma to let her new baby sisser out of the tummy...when Momma told her the baby wasn't ready..Makayla told her she wanted to see her new sisser, that she could put her back after seeing her. Also the big ??? HOW did the baby get in Momma's tummy..well the older three year olds at daycare and Makayla say her Mom may have eaten the baby. Out of the mouths of babes!

Well, there is a lot going on here. First of all, you guys should not have been so hlepful and neither should have the boyfriend's parents. I was 18 and I moved in with my boyfriend, got pregnant and we had a son. It's 4 years later and we struggled and had our families support but they did NOT hold our hands and help us through everything. It was hard and yes we got frustrated but you know what? I'm thankful we had to fall on our face and grow up. We did it fast and it was because we had to not because someone else was saying we needed to and doing everything for us. The only way I think your daughter and her boyfriend will ever grow up and appreciate what you're saying and have done is if they are forced out on their own. As for your grandchild, I'm sorry you don't get to see her. There is some resentment going on that is forcing your daughter to keep her from you. I guess all you can do is try to call your daughter and apologize and be there for her. I know you're probably thinking, "Apologize? For what?" well, I'm pretty sure that you said or did something that you're daughter did not like. It may not be something you think was wrong but it upset her. Like did you maybe put her boyfriend down? Maybe he's not perfect and what you wanted for your daughter but that's not your choice. It's her life and her choice. She's now an adult and a mother and sometimes that's hard for a parent to realize. It took my Mom about a year and a half to break down and cry and tell me I was doing a great job and to apologize for doubting me, my fiance' and questioning his intentions and everything. Just try apologizing and approaching the situation differently. Be there but don't help too much. Don't let them rely on you for money or babysitting or stuff like that. They may get angry because you said no, but they'll learn and someday down the road, they'll wake up and realize you weren't so bad after all. Good luck... ~Leslie~

Thank you all. I did speak with some other Grandma's I know and all said the same thing-yes, they were a little sad but overwhelmed with love when the new baby came. I'm sure I'll feel that way, especially as her pregnancy progresses. Today I had to take her to the doctor as she was so sick she couldn't even stand up. My SIL had taken Ro to day care and he couldn't get off work so I took her, she was happy to have me come along for her first appointment. Poor kid is so dehydrated they couldn't even get her veins to plump up enough to get enough blood for the tests. She'll get an IV treatment tomorrow, meanwhile she's gotten some anti-nausea meds and is drinking a lot of water, and her DH made her some soup tonight. She was feeling better when I left. I had the best time with my baby boy tonight-he's so silly right now-but he's now acknowledging me as Gremma so that's making it a little better for me, I was worried (unfounded!) he wouldn't ever be close to me! He's such a funny guy-had to feed me goldfish crackers and took off my glasses and put them on himself. I think I'm going to love being Gremma to his new sibling now that it's starting to sink in.

Congratulations, girls are so much fun. I loved my girls, but my little Monkey Princess is way better, all the fun and none of the responsibility!

Of course, Bruvver is fun too, it'll be great no matter which it is.

How exciting to add two new people to your family (DIL and new grand baby). On my side when my sis has her twins we will have 10 grandkids age 5 and under. I can't wait until Christmas next year, it sure could be interesting.

Congratulations! Just said goodbye to our little 8 m/o Jack this morning, he's on his way to Mexico for a vacation! First boy after 5 granddaughters, so cute for us to see little boy clothes for a change :)

I'm less than 6 wks. from the arrival of my first grandchild. It's a girl. I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that my daughter is having a daughter!

I hate to say this but my new daughter-in-law has lost the baby. She had a miscarriage earlier today. Please say a prayer for her, her name is Brenna and one for the baby that was not to be.
