So why not ignore the parts of your current printer you do not need and use the rest? There is not much of a market for used printers, unless you already have a buyer of course. Buying another while you have a useable one seems odd. Watch for sales, just a couple of weeks ago there were some Canons on sale for under $40. No idea where now but it was a great deal at the time and with the depressed economy bargains will pop up occasionally. There are 83 here, all between $50 and $100. Notice the 'Reviews'? click on any row of stars to read the reports of actual users to aid your search. I personally like HP or Canon. In a thread a few weeks ago a couple of users spoke highly of recent Lexmarks so perhaps they have smartened up somwhat.

Witz- you are almost right, except there's nothing listed in control panel for this all-in-one except the photography portion. However, I discovered quite by accident that if I go into a wordfile and click File > Print > Properties, a tab comes up that says Printer Services. And if you click on that, it says "Open HP toolbox" !!!!!!! It gave me exactly what I needed. Except for the knife, gun, or bazooka I'm going to use on my husband for ***not*** telling me he'd put in an ancient cartridge--that would have imediately alerted me to the fact that the red ink was probably dried up. Soon as we put in a fresh new one, it printed just fine. and having found the tool box, I could run the tests to make sure all was as it should be. With the exception of 'is it a speedy printer' (it is not), the questions you ask depend on your computer software, not the printer. To print an excerpt from an article, I copy and paste it into a word processing document, where I can adjust the font, etc, and print from there. I found this in a google.com search: In IE Browser, go to File--> Page Setup --> in the Page Setup window, have Group box name as "Header and Footer" under this "Footer" text box in text "&u&b&d" will availble. Just remove the "&u" then automatically URL will remove from Bottom of the Printed Page. And this: Go to "File", "Page Setup...", then erase the text in the "Headers and Footers text boxes. (The default for header is &w&bPage &p of &P and for footer &u&b&d if you need to put it back later.
