Problem with MS April updates

I waited several days before downloading and installing the updates for my Windows 7 machine. I usually do several at a time, as I did this time also. However, the last two have failed to install. I keep getting information that the download is 45% complete, but repeated efforts produce no results except the failed box. The updates in question are KB2808735 @1.5MB and KB2813170 @5.2MB. What can I do to get these to download and install?

Both installed here with Win 7 on the 10th with no issues.

You might try deleting them (if they show) and try downloading again.

You can view them at Control panel/Programs/Programs and Features/Installed updates.

owbist, these two were not listed. I have tried and tried to download them to no avail. Cannot seem to connect to the MS help site, either. I've been using my wi-fi, but I think I'll try connecting directly to the modem and see if I can get them that way. All the others downloaded and installed without a hitch, but last night when I was doing this, my connection slowed down and these would not download past the 45% mark. If a direct connection fails, I'll just give up and try again in a couple of weeks after our move is completed and I'll have cable service. Right now, this 3G service sucks.

Susan and Anne, nice boxes. Laura, I enjoyed the paintings, I liked the paper one the best, would really add a sense of fun to a room. Anne, you asked if any of us do anything with gourds. Hello, Lovely Ladies-I can't believe I took care of all this yesterday , "pushed Submit" & received the message- After an April date you can no longer sign in with your GW name, etc. I couldn't believe it. When I get this typed again, you will all understand why I waited until today to try again. I received the largest box from Maryanne yesterday & I know when I try to input all that was in it, I'll forget some of it as it was so loaded, I can't believe that post is somewhere in outer space, I guess. I'll try again to list all: Day Lillies- Night Embers, Grace & Wind Frills-Toad Lily-Tradescantiq, Little Doll, Stokesia,Klaus Jelittoi-Asiatic Lily-Red Dragon Marked maybe,maybe not!Iris-Awake, Sues's Blues, Caprice & Innocent Star-Strawberry Begonia-Shasta Daisy,I almost bought one last week!-Superburn,Aglaya?-Hosta's, So Sweet, Thumbalina, I love mini's Hosta's, Heuchera-Dales Strain & one other one, Salvia-East Friesland. There were lots of Iris unamed, too. I am sure I have missed some & miss spelled some but what a selection! Thank you so much, Maryanne-I am going to try & keep them marked as from you & will be able to remember you when the start blooming! You really made my summer a delight watching these great plants. I use linux also my fave distro is Mepis (dual boot with Ubuntu) but with any MS OS comes IE and with IE comes the patches so as long as it is MS OS it will have IE and therefore needs the patches. Does not really matter if we use firefox and thunderbird as I also do since IE is part of the OS. I too love linux.

If I had to move and not have my fios I just don't know what I would do. IT would be a determining factor in where I moved to I can tell you that. I will hopefully never have to leave fios! I have had it since 2005, I was one of the original test houses out here in Texas, I had the big head bosses out here from time to time, I had to call them one day because I lost my connection, I had 5 Verizon cars and trucks in my drive way in less than 15 minutes and several of them were in suits LOL. Found out one of the installers had accidentally disconnected me from the box at the street when he was working on the lines, it was very new then only about a week old. I think the poor guy got fired. That is the only time I have ever lost connection other than of course a power outage. I had DSL before that and it was a constant pain. Dial up was a bad dream.

Could I just do a system restore to a date before I did the updates and start over again? I hate to have to do the one for IE10 all over since it was so large.

You can delete the downloads folder and it will rebuild at next restart but 1st you should go to services Windows Updates and stop that.

Then delete
"C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download"

Actually many recommend renaming SoftwaeEistribution.OLD if deleting downloads doesn't clear it - and the whole folder & sub folders get rebuilt.

Perhaps the linked bulletin below may help. I didn't experience any noticeable problems with KB2823324 but once I removed it, and reloaded a corrected version, my system did respond much better to all commands. Read the referenced KB2839011 within this Notice and it will lead you in the right direction.

Anne, this had already been pulled when I started my downloads on 4/11.

I guess my best bet is to try to get rid of all I had already downloaded and start from scratch. I'll do them one at a time instead of two or three together.

Thanks to owbist and mikie. I think I will try what mikie suggested and go from there.

I found Windows update in services and stopped that, but I could not locate Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download. Nothing of the sort on C: . So I did a restore to the time of the last update that installed. Then I started again with five remaining updates, one at a time. However, the same problem again with neither of the mentioned updates downloading. I shut down the computer and put it away, not to be used until we are at our new location in about two weeks. Then I'll try again and maybe be back for some other suggestions.
