I was checking on MS updates and it looks like I need a few.

KB951748 is included. That is the one that caused the problem with ZA and other FWs. Is it safe now?

Also what about all the others listed?

This is a little large but the next smaller would have been hard to read.

did you get the latest update for zonealarm firewall if you use it? if so you should be good to go so yes get your updates that is a very important one to patch the dns vulnerbility.
the rest look like ones that should not cause any problems.

I hear you, damccoy....my memory is NOT what it used to be either and my attitude is NOT what it used to be either. I find myself "cranky" about having to spend my valuable time learning something new when what I was doing was perfectly fine and suited my needs. AND I would really prefer spending my time doing something else more fun...like quilting or sewing or reading on my kindle or gardening or scrapbooking or cooking or most anything than sitting in front of a computer screen. If I had to move and not have my fios I just don't know what I would do. IT would be a determining factor in where I moved to I can tell you that. I will hopefully never have to leave fios! I have had it since 2005, I was one of the original test houses out here in Texas, I had the big head bosses out here from time to time, I had to call them one day because I lost my connection, I had 5 Verizon cars and trucks in my drive way in less than 15 minutes and several of them were in suits LOL. Found out one of the installers had accidentally disconnected me from the box at the street when he was working on the lines, it was very new then only about a week old. I think the poor guy got fired. That is the only time I have ever lost connection other than of course a power outage. I had DSL before that and it was a constant pain. Dial up was a bad dream.

Since I got the updates my shortcuts on the desktop are taking as long as two minutes to open a site. Once there bookmarks open immediately.

What might be causing that?

hum I have no idea, try rebooting a couple times and see if it fixes it. With some updates doing a few reboots kinda helps.

are you talking about shortcuts to programs on your pc or shortcuts to websites that your browser opens? and if so what browser?

Raven, I did a restart after I took the updates and then did a couple more restarts which didn't help. This morning I did a shut down and so far it seems to be okay.

These were shortcuts to sites I frequent daily.

It was your turn to have the Gremlins, they take turns you know, it was just your day, see they have moved on to someone else now.
LOL you just have to have a sense of humor sometimes with these darn machines!
