The document needs to be created as a "form" to easily fill out the fields. Otherwise, use the annotation menu and create text boxes. The latter tends to be rather slow and labor intensive depending on how many fields you need to fill in.

I want to adopt a pet and a form was emailed to me to fill out and send back. It is attached to open in Adobe Reader.

It might be easier to just print it out, fill it out by hand, and mail it back (or scan the filled-out form and email it back).

PDF Xchange Viewer makes it easy. Just click on the 'typewriter' button and you can type where you place the cursor. Better than Adobe Reader in many ways.

But funny they sent the form that way when another shelter sent it as an MS Word application and I had no problem filling it out and sending back.

Hi Urlee, that's because the creation of a PDF is 'printing to file' rather than just saving a document that can be edited.
