Ponydoc--David suggested several months ago when I was in your boat (total newbie) that I check out www.htd.com for their controller / amps (to connect the audio source--like stereo, CD player, iPod, etc.--to the speakers). I liked what I saw and bought from them. It's a couple of weeks away from being installed, so I can't comment on how I like it, etc., but it has great reviews on the website. Please see an earlier post I started on "whole house audio"; I asked a lot of the same kind of questions you probably have. I just ordered the Squeezebox Duet. I didn't want to miss the sale, but also didn't want it too soon--we won't be moved in for about 4 more weeks. I hope I can at least try it out before the return policy ends.

if you want help from us then and then won't do what tasks are asked then there is no way we can help you. WE could send you to one of the support forums specific for clean up but you must run the scans and tasks that are asked for us to see what is on the machine if we don't know then there is no way to help clean it. If zep is asking you to run something you can rest assured it is NOT something to hurt you it is to see what you have lurking on the pc. There is a difference between antivirus programs and all the other things you mentioned. You can only have one Antivirus program running at a time you have MSE that is fine. You can have several other anti malware programs on the pc because they do not run till you start them up and run a scan you only do one at a time. Malwarebytes is great be sure you update it prior to running the full scan weekly, another is superantispyware also update prior to running full scan. The other thing you should have is spywareblaster you just open it weekly and hit the update button then hit enable all protection so the shield turns green that is it it sits there and does it's thing. I would also suggest putting WOT on your browsers so you are warned if a site has a bad reputation or is dangerous. Use this tool regularly to check for updates to other things on your pc , the majority of infections today are happening because of not updating your flash, java, adobe etc programs they must be updated and so must windows so do all those updates. Secunia Online Software Inspector (OSI) run online virus scans occasionally to see if they find something your MSE missed ESET�s Free Online Scanner You want to quarantine because if it happens to be something that was needed then you can go back and get it, when they are in quarantine you need not worry about them just leave them alone. Ok I see you started 2 different posts here, one says you installed AVG free and one says you installed AVG antispyware free. Did you install AVG antivirus?? or just antispyware?? If you installed antivirus you most definitely can NOT have 2 antivirus programs running on your pc at the same time. You would first have to completely remove the antivirus program that is on the pc BEFORE you install and run another antivirus program. Do you have the AOL antivirus package perhaps? With antispyware programs normally you can have more than one they work differently so they can be used as layered protection thereby allowing more than one to run at the same time. Do you have plenty of memory (RAM) on your computer? when you get low on RAM it will tend to make things freeze up and run poorly. If you did install AVG antivirus and already had an antivirus program on your pc I would uninstall both of them completely, then go right to the AVG site and re- download and install the AVG antivirus to make sure you got it complete and properly installed. fill us in on exactly what you did and what you got so we know how to further direct you. And lets try to do this on this one post and not use the other one.

The question you really need to answer is-what level of telephone reliability do you require? If you want to get rid of a landline to save $, that's your choice...but you have to realize that that alternatives simply don't have the same level of dependability as a landline. There are just too many things that can go wrong (power loss-loss of internet-cellphone loss of signal or system overloads). This situation will probably improve over time..it's just not there yet. I am probably in an ever-decreasing minority, but I will keep my POTS landline (plain-old-telephone-system) until it gets taken away from me. Maybe by then, internet telephony will have improved to meet my level of satisfaction. Considering what it does and the complexity required to produce the desired result, the standard telephone system is without doubt the single most reliable piece of technology I have ever used. I won't give it up easily. I don't have a cellphone and don't want one.
