Nancy, I really like a free program with the unlikely name of Irfanview. (Irfan is the first name of the programmer.) It does a lot of things and loads up in a second or two. Dee, I sure can understand your quest for improvement. I recently did an enlargement of a WWII photograph for a friend. It was of her recently departed father while he was in China just after the war. I'm not a true picture user just a tinkerer, but for a friend you do what you can. I took it from wallet size to 5x7. I couldn't go any larger as the quality receded. Even at 5x7 there was some "noise" and 'dust" I just couldn't remove. She was ecstatic with it though, and to me that was all that counts. Owbist is totally correct about cloning the original for working on. Myself, I have created a Stand By folder for anything that is being worked on or moved about the HD. DA

If you are taking photos specifically to show on Rose forums then why not set the camera to take 640 x 480 pictures? Remember to set it back to the higher quality after of course. However if you want the photos for other uses too then you can easily reduce them on your computer AFTER you have renamed them so the original is not lost to you. For example if you photo is called img_036.jpg you can add an 'a' making it img_036a.jpg, that way they are still together when you view the files in Windows Explorer. Forget the Canon software, I never take my camera software out of the packages as it usually so much bloatware. But that of course is a personal decision you must make. What Corel program is it Sammy? You should be able to open your chosen photo in Corel, click Image, click Resample and set the size to what you want. By default it retains the aspect ratio so if you choose 640 for the width it will set the height to 480 immediately for you .

heidiho, I don't think you have to do anything to save it...if you type the caption it will save automatically. The trash can icon at the bottom right will let you delete the caption...the icon on the bottom left will let you hide or show the caption. Hope this helps. Pam p.s.
