Nancy, I really like a free program with the unlikely name of Irfanview. (Irfan is the first name of the programmer.) It does a lot of things and loads up in a second or two. Dee, I sure can understand your quest for improvement. I recently did an enlargement of a WWII photograph for a friend. It was of her recently departed father while he was in China just after the war. I'm not a true picture user just a tinkerer, but for a friend you do what you can. I took it from wallet size to 5x7. I couldn't go any larger as the quality receded. Even at 5x7 there was some "noise" and 'dust" I just couldn't remove. She was ecstatic with it though, and to me that was all that counts. Owbist is totally correct about cloning the original for working on. Myself, I have created a Stand By folder for anything that is being worked on or moved about the HD. DA

Not familiar with Photoscape, but a key ingredient of Picasa is the ability to mix photo printing so as to make better use of ink and paper with less waste. I also like the collage feature for creating desktop backgrounds of the grandchildren. I even printed one out for my desk at work. I use Irfanview for its easy resizing, properties not physical, of a photo. Being on an antique DUN that's important. DA

GIMP is just like Photoshop...it's fantastic, there are tutorials online. Easier still is photobucket which has a clone stamp tool....an eraser. Tuxpi.com has neat picture frames....
