If you can open the recycle bin and right click the file.. can you do that ? If so, Un-Delete it. I've from control panel, users .. deleted user accounts in win8 and they seem to disappear completely easy enough. So maybe that file is bigger problem than it seems. You can certainly try to use Control Panels 'Programs & Features' icon to uninstall QuckBooks .. and if that works, see if that file goes away. But try to undelete it first may be necessary now. You may need to login windows to the account that won't delete, and from Control Panel 'Folders' options, put everything on Show Hidden files. Then open your C drive while in that account, and double click the $Recycle.bin and then the folder inside it.. try to delete the file there - if it wont delete,,,, try to delete the folder it is in.. and no luck,,, maybe delete the actual $Recycle.bin if you cant get rid of this mystery file. Had to google cheanmgr -sagerun101 to find out what that is and I ended up at my start, all programs, accessories, system tools, disk cleanup. I read all the descriptions and clicked OK and when it was done, I restarted my computer and tried to send something to the recycle bin. It seems to be working now as I see the list so I can go to File, Empty Recycle Bin. Thank you. Ready for another issue Mikie??

Marie, First of all there is two types of deleting. One is the traditional delete when removes files from the system and moves them to the Recycle Bin. The other removes them from the system directly. The confirmation window that appears before deleting will state Recycle Bin if the files are indeed going to the Recycle Bin. Are you using Windows Disk Cleanup? If configured so it will remove the Recycle Bin contents. Regarding Recuva, I have previously tinkered with it and was not overly impressed as it was somewhat complicated. However, I just tinkered with the brand new version yesterday. I found it much more user friendly with a choice wizard and all. I now think it would be worth while for anyone to try. DA
