It's why I don't use sleep mode, there's always some sort of issue with it on a lot of computers. I leave mine on a lot and even then for no apparent reason it will freeze and a hard shut down is necessary, I have shut down issues too Win 7...When I shut down I get often waiting for background program to close....

igloochicken , glad it helped. Not very often I can even venture a guess. I got my laptop book out and looking at the vague picture it looked like the letters you should have been getting corresponded to those in the numeric key pad area. Grady

"After many years........" What O/S are you using? You could try uninstalling both entities, keyboard first then mouse from the hardware configuration. Then C-A-D twice to shut down the system. Disconnect the old keyboard and mouse, and connect the new ones. Boot up and let Windows detect the new hardware and allow it to install the Windows' basic drivers. Now use the CD to install the manufacturer's specialty drivers for the new hardware. DA

I sell commercial office furniture (much of it custom). I am often faced with that same dilemma in medical offices where the built-ins are Solid Surfaces. Because the surfaces are often thicker then a normal desk top, be especially careful of the finished height of the worksurface and the avail space from the finished floor to the underside of the surface (where you are going to attach the keyboard tray). You do not want the KB to end of being too low!!! What I would advise and what we do to install in this situation using an articulating KB tray - attach a pc of wood (1 x 6), front to back with construction adhesive where you want the KB to the underside of the surface. Brace it over night. Then attach your KB tray to the wood. Obviously use -1/2" screws. Using an articulating KB tray will have a metal plate that gets attached to the wood. The KB mechanism slides in and out on this plate and fully adjusts on an arm. Your talented hubby can do this in a snap!:) I have never found the "drawer type" (from the cabinets) to work in these situations or be comfortable. I have to deal with ADA and ergonomics issues that you don't have to address in residential. I have never had a client be unhappy with an articulating KB. Depending on how tall you are and your computer , you may not need a KB tray. Men mostly don't use them. No - I don't think you need to x post on the computer forum -
