Hi ya_think. We started getting a clue around the end of the year and confirmed probably in February??? Going in we knew it was a new product and there was some risk that changes could happen to the design. For us the combination of the french doors, IR broiler, capacity, and design were worth the wait. We looked all of the usual suspects but found that the none offered the right mix of features for us. We also wanted a more simple, traditional look so the Wolf rotating control panel for example was a little too space ship looking for our taste. I think there may have been some issues with the double oven config during the whole gov't testing/approval process that led them to go with the stacking approach, at least that is what our retailer told us. Obviously we are fine on width but two stacked units will be about 6 inches taller than the original double. As a result we are having our kitchen guy come out to decide if we are going to lose a drawer/shelf or just have that cabinet rebuilt. That cabinet is mostly air anyway so we are not losing too much sleep over it. We expect that no changes are needed on the gas hookup or electric. Ovens showed up today and are in my garage! As soon as we get them hooked up I'll be sure to post some photos and share my experiences. You will notice that the photos on the BS site are updated now with the *real* ones.

Here in this old pic is my hood over the old JennAire range which I finally was able to replace. The motor and vent to the outside are hidden in the cabinet above the hood. The system provides a 1200 cfm exhaust, which is wonderful. Here the cabinet doors are open to show the amount of storage I retained in the 15" deep cabinets. I am sure you can find something like this that will work. Mine is a ModernAire custom built to take the minimal vertical space for motor and venting. One problem with fitting a hood into your existing kitchen is that the space above the range is the same width as the range. Recommendations are always that the hood extend least 3" wider on each side than the range. However, a number of people with situations like yours (where they are retrofitting a hood into existing upper cabinets) have installed hoods of the same width as their ranges. So, I did a brief internet search and came up with this from Honeywell Cable's website. "Are manufacturers required to use UL for their compliance testing? The ETL Listed Mark serves as an indicator of compliance with applicable product safety standards." Also, this from Intertek's website. Intertek is the lab that issues the ETL mark. Do local inspectors know the ETL Listed Mark? Yes. Inspectors and the Authorities Having Jurisdiction recognize and accept the ETL Mark as proof of product compliance throughout North America and in some areas of South America.
